2026 summer recap: Iceland edition

From London to Iceland, and all the way around the island. 🇬🇧🚢🇮🇸

We sailed from London to Reykjavík, then traded the ship for a car and spent the next 16 days driving Iceland’s Ring Road.

16 days of chasing waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches, winding roads, tiny villages, and landscapes that hardly felt real.

One road trip, countless little adventures, and memories we’ll be carrying with us for a very long time. 🤍

Three kids, a full-time career, and still making space for herself in the gym. She recently graduated with distinction and passed her board exam along the way.

What I witnessed isn’t just a list of accomplishments, but a life being carried with intention: the quiet discipline, the in-between moments, the steady commitment to keep showing up for herself while showing up for everyone else.

11am at Balboa Park, when the light is high and harsh everywhere else, somehow this place still feels soft and cinematic.

The kids started running before we even really began. Twirling and dancing down the walkway, little sister laughing so hard she could barely keep up, mom leaning into every moment, dad watching it all with that quiet smile parents have when they know they’ll want to remember this forever.

Nobody looked at the camera much. Nobody needed to. Because the best family photos are never really about posing — they’re about holding onto the feeling of a moment before it slips away.

In 2021, I photographed them for the first time. The little brother was only 6 months old then, just before they moved away to New York City.

Five years passed in what felt like a blink.

This spring break, they returned to San Diego, and we met again by the sea. The children had grown taller, louder, freer. The kind of growing you only notice after time and distance have quietly done their work.

So this session became more about holding onto the feeling of this season of life, sandy feet, tangled hair, and the beautiful chaos of being together.
