A little Friday night reality check.

Social media makes it really easy to believe everyone else is booking the jobs, raising happy kids, answering every text, going on date nights and somehow always catching golden hour while doing it.

This week was a reminder that behind every business is an actual person with an actual life happening in the background.

There were some genuinely hard moments this week. Some missed opportunities. Some mom guilt. Some unanswered texts. Some self-doubt. And definitely a few moments I could have handled better.

There were wins too. There always are.

But I think there’s value in sharing the stuff that happens between the wins once in a while.

So here’s your Friday night reminder from someone who’s been doing this for 20+ years and still doesn’t have it all figured out:

A hard week doesn’t mean you’re doing a bad job.
Sometimes it just means you had a hard week.

Thankful for a 3 day weekend. 🤍

What a joy it is to watch families grow year after year. Watching my kids change so much every seasons reminds me how important it is to have photos of them to look back on. And more importantly actually get in front of the camera. Thank you to all of you (you know who you are) that book my services consistently. I see you and appreciate you.

I’ll be back at this historic location this Saturday morning! A great option if your kids are anything like mine and don’t know how to sleep in on the weekends.

Six months of BTS footage and apparently I’ve accumulated quite the portfolio of ASSets.

In everyone’s defense, I did ask them to capture me working.

Need a photographer who’ll do whatever it takes for the shot? Clearly, I’m committed. 😂

Your business has grown. Your photos just haven’t caught up yet.

That doesn’t necessarily mean your old photos are bad. They may simply be representing a version of your business you’ve already outgrown.

Your services are more refined.
Your clients are more established.
Your ideas are clearer.
Your expertise has deepened.

But when it’s time to update your website, announce a new offer or post something meaningful, you’re still searching through the same handful of headshots and cropped event photos.

For Lori’s brand session, we weren’t simply creating new portraits. As an operations advisor for women founders, her value lives in how she thinks, leads, collaborates and turns complexity into a clear plan.

We created a strategic image and video library for her website, social content, LinkedIn, speaking opportunities and the next stage of her business.

Because the goal isn’t just to look professional.
It’s to make sure your visual presence reflects the level of business you’ve already built.

I’m sharing more from Lori’s session, and the signs that your business may have outgrown its current photos over on the blog.

If you had told me years ago back when photography was my "side gig" and I was still trying to figure out where I fit in the corporate world that someday I'd be hired to photograph a multi-day corporate conference at Walt Disney World, I wouldn't have believed you.

Add in that it would be a five-figure assignment AND I'd get to bring my family along for the experience? Definitely wouldn't have believed you.

But this summer, that's exactly what happened.
And somewhere between the keynote speakers, packed ballrooms, 2,300+ delivered photographs, Disney characters and a private night in Toy Story Land, I had this little realization:
I've come a long way.

I finally sat down and wrote about the experience; not just the Disney part, but the years of building a business, questioning myself, taking chances and slowly creating a career that looks a lot more like the one I always hoped I'd have.

Sometimes growth is hard to see when you're standing in the middle of it.

This was one of those moments where I finally got to see it. ❤️

You invested in the new website.

The copy is polished. Your services have evolved. Your brand finally feels like you.

And then you get to the photos…

…and start digging through your camera roll.

Your photography is part of the design.

Before your next website redesign, let’s actually plan the images your designer will need: horizontal banners, negative space for copy, detail shots, personality, process, team photos and all those little supporting images that bring the site together.

Your website shouldn’t just look professional.

It should look like your business. Let’s chat! Drop me a DM.

“What if my kids don’t cooperate?”

Probably one of the questions I hear most before family photos. And as a mom, I get it.

But here’s the thing: your kids don’t need to sit perfectly still, smile on command or suddenly become tiny professional models.

Let them move. Let them laugh. Let them be a little silly. Let them be your kids.

Those in-between moments? They’re often my favorites.

I shared a few of my best tips for taking the pressure off your next family session over on the motherhood blog. 🤍

Between building a career and raising humans…
it’s really easy to put ourselves last.

We show up for deadlines.
We show up for our kids.
We show up for everyone else.

And somewhere in the middle of it all… we forget to show up for ourselves.

This is one of the reasons I care so deeply about what I do.
Because being seen—really seen—matters.

Not just as a mom.
Not just as a business owner.
But as you.

Sometimes a photo isn’t just a photo…
it’s a reminder that you’re still in there too 🤍

Thank you for being my muse here :)
