Reading ‘The Untethered Soul’ for the third time and somehow it hits differently every time.

One of the simplest ideas keeps coming back to me: just let go. Not letting go of the moment, but letting go of the tightening inside when things don’t go the way we expected. The urge to control, the stories we tell ourselves and the grip we put on things that were never meant to be held that tightly.

Morning sessions are my not so secret favorite.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The light is soft, the air feels calm, and there are way less people around (except the surfers whom I love). No crowds or looking for parking, no waiting for strangers to clear out. Just space to breathe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everyone is more relaxed in the morning. Kids are fresh. Dogs are chill. Couples are not rushing from work. We get to move slooow, wander and actually enjoy it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is something really peaceful about starting the day this way.
If you want photos that feel relaxed instead of a rushed production, sunrise might be your thing.

Looking back on all the years I was lucky enough to have my Mom, it’s wild now to think how normal a moment can feel while you’re in it. Just another afternoon, dinner at home, trip to the grocery store playing football with a loaf of bread. And then something shifts, and you realize those ordinary moments were never ordinary at all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Watching my friend navigate life without her mom has been a quiet reminder to me: this is it. This time right now. The messy, loud, chaotic, beautiful in-between.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So here’s to staying a little longer. Taking the photo. Giving the extra long hug. Because one day, those will be the moments we’d give anything to step back into.
