So this is the story of how I accidentally ended up with two dogs 😂
One evening we went off on our usual mission to find a nice spot to watch the sunset, and pretty much the second we arrived, these two tiny, ridiculously skinny puppies appeared.
They were going from group to group begging for scraps, eating whatever they could find and literally chewing on trash.
Sadly, this is super common in Indonesia. There are street dogs everywhere and, as much as you want to, you just can’t save them all.
So I told myself: do NOT get attached. Give them some food, give them some love, and move on.
Naturally, I cried the entire time.
I left thinking I’d probably never see them again.
Then about a week later, someone posted in a local group chat saying they’d rescued two puppies who had been found in a horrible situation. Kids had been beating them and they were completely defenseless.
I opened the photo and immediately recognized their little faces.
The same two puppies.
At that point I was like… okay. I can’t leave them twice.
So I offered to foster the girls. I knew I was going to be around long enough to get them healthy, give them somewhere safe to land, and hopefully find them a permanent home.
Obv fostering is a slightly dangerous game because if you don’t find them a home… well, congratulations, you have dogs
But it was a risk I was willing to take.
Anyway, two years later, here we are.
Me and my two little foster fails, living our best life together.
Still one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and probably the happiest accident of my life.
The fact that we found each other once, I walked away, and somehow they found their way back to me a week later…
I don’t know. That part has always felt a little bit like fate. 🤍
