After 20 faithful years of service, Master Sergeant Ryan Masel retired from the United States Marine Corps. I was honored to capture such a special day for him as his friends, family, and fellow Marines from near and far gathered to thank him for his service and celebrate the end of this chapter.

After the ceremony as they celebrated at the nearby bar, I learned about a special family tradition of theirs. Several of the cousins are fellow service members and for each deployment over the years, they "check them out" with a group toast when leaving for deployments, and "check them back in" with another toast when they safely return.

It's always an honor to capture important milestones, but Last Flights hold a special place in my heart now that we're on the other side of ours.

This Last Flight did not disappoint. I could not have asked for a more perfect evening, a more beautiful sunset, or a sweeter family to capture - toddler-sized flight suits and toy Ospreys included!

Enjoy these photos and let's send this family some love as they transition into the civilian world after more than a decade of service.

With a 5'11" mama and a 6'8" dad... this cutie is BOUND to get some of those tall genes! And she's got the walking thing down, but is still a littttttle off balance. We'll blame that on the off-the-growth-charts height! But it made for the cutest little romps up and down the dirt path. 🥰

I had a blast hanging out with this sweet family on the most PERFECT evening. One of my photographer friends told me about this location, and it's definitely a new favorite!
