We took a 3 hour road trip up north today to experience the eclipse at totality. What a memorable thing to witness! These three photos are: 1) The start of totality, 2) Jet contrails that passed in the foreground, and 3) The first instant when totality ended and the sun peeked past the moon. In the last shot, you can clearly see several large solar flares leaving the surface of the sun. The one nearest 6:00 was visible throughout totality. I shot these using a Nikon D700, 500mm telephoto, @ f-5.6 and 1/2 second shutter. Other than cropping, no other adjustments were made to the images.

SCAM ALERT! Do not purchase one of these, or anything else from the seller! I ordered two of them in November and the site charged me double (four times the cost of one!) I contacted the seller the second Paypal messaged me of the charge, and I saw it was inflated. The seller replied with an email with links flagged as "Suspicious." Naturally I contacted Paypal who opened a claim. The seller sent me an email via the Paypal claim system telling me it had already shipped and I should mark it "Refused, Return to sender" which I did when it arrived. USPS tracking shows it went back to the return address on the label, and the seller refused delivery. Paypal is denying my claim because the seller says they didn't receive it back, even though USPS shows it arrived and they refused delivery! So now I'm out the money AND don't have the merchandise! Needless to say I will be closing my Paypal and Venmo accounts. If I had used a credit card instead of Paypal, the bank would have settled the matter in five minutes. Do not expect Paypal or Venmo to have your back!

Spotted this beauty across the lake from us this morning. The first two shots are through a dirty window, so I apologize for the soft focus. The third picture is when I snuck outside to get a clear shot, but it spotted me, grabbed its lunch and bolted.

Thanks for all of your concern for our safety with the tragic flooding here in Kentucky! Karen and I are doing fine. Our home is about an hour west of the worst of it, and sits about 40’ above the maximum possible level of the lake out back. The water is rising quickly, but will flow over the dam long before it can reach us. Much love to all!
