Being a Padres fan requires a…certain level of patience!

There are seasons that exceed expectations, and there are stretches that test every bit of your loyalty. Yet somehow, the seats keep filling, the jerseys keep coming out, and people keep making their way to the ballpark.

Maybe that’s what being Friar Faithful has always been about. Not just showing up when things are going well, but showing up because this team, this city, and these moments have become part of the routine.

The players change. The standings change. The expectations change.

But summer evenings at Petco, conversations on the trolley, a Padres hat on every corner, and thousands of people finding reasons to gather around baseball in San Diego somehow remain the same.

The series we’ve all been waiting for!

Padres and Dodgers meet again with both teams battling for the top of the NL West, continuing a divisional matchup that’s become one of the most followed rivalries in baseball.

The series kicks off tonight at Petco Park, with another full crowd expected as the Padres return home for their first matchup against LA this season. What was once just another divisional series has grown through close standings races, postseason meetings, controversies, and big moments over the last few years.

At Petco, it all comes together in one place. Fans from both sides, a packed stadium, and another chapter of NL West baseball at America’s #1 ballpark 🙌

First 40 of 162 games already down! A lot already packed into this season. Good stretches, rough ones, questions about how good this team really is…and somehow the belief around this city still feels steady. 24-16, sitting in first, and the Faithful keep showing up like they always do.

That’s probably been my biggest takeaway documenting all of this so far. Not just the baseball, but the people around it. The routines, the conversations walking into the park, familiar faces showing back up series after series, and the way Petco settles into itself once the gates open.

Somewhere along the way, it stops feeling like just covering games and starts feeling more like documenting a season of life in San Diego.

Looks like I already caught my last home game for a while. Heading back out to work soon, so I’ll miss the next couple months of baseball at Petco. Tough timing, but it’ll make getting back that much better.

Still a long road ahead for this team…Excited to see where it goes from here!

That’s the part I keep drawn to documenting…the people, the movement, the flags, the smoke, the in-between moments, and the culture this city is building around the club week after week.

Meanwhile, the boys are in Seattle today, handling business on the road. Chrome and azul traveling well, as always!

Match days like this are why I keep showing up with a camera, not just for the 90 minutes but for everything around it, the walk in, the flags catching light, kids kicking a ball in the grass, friends linking up in the lots, and the same faces turning into familia match after match.

That’s what I’m here to document, the culture being built in real time, the people behind it, the feeling that makes this more than just a game in San Diego.

LA in town and you already know what time it is
