This belly has been growing for the last 40 weeks and now we are so ready to meet our baby Gem 💎 This time in our lives has been a roller coaster. Life has shown us all shades of colors and we have gone through a lot this year, but without a doubt expecting our baby has been the light that illuminates everything. I’m so thankful to have on this journey, she has been my rock and my lighthouse. I’m excited to raise this kid together.

Friends and family, once again, I am reaching out to all of you to ask for your support for my family. This time, it's for my lovely brother who has been fighting against aggressive cancer. He is currently in critical condition, and receiving the right treatment is crucial to ensuring his survival. He is a father of two kids who need his presence and love. I am incredibly grateful for all the support we received back in April for my mother; it was the support we needed. I don’t normally share that much about my family through Instagram, but this time I'm sharing something important we are going through. We are reaching out to our community, family, and friends to support us with the health of my mother. In the last 6 or 7 months she has been dealing with some intestinal issues, but it wasn't until recently that they found a tumor growing there. Thankfully this tumor is benign, but if we don't act quickly it can turn into a cancer. At the moment I’m back home in Guatemala supporting her with all of her needs and we finally have found a doctor and a hospital that is capable of treating her. Although my mom is a very healthy woman, this surgery is still a major risk for her age and the recovery time can be long.

I'm reaching out using social media to all of you to ask for your support. We have created a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to be able to pay medical bills and any recovery expenses. I’m posting the link in my bio. If you can donate anything to help us reach our goals, we will be forever grateful. Another way to help is by sharing the campaign with your friends and family. The first time I heard the story of Coatlicue, it impacted me so much. I always remember the story of a powerful mother defending her pregnancy against everyone, including her own sons and daughters, knowing that the life in her womb was precious and had a purpose. Sure enough, this new being came to life in the right moment: Huitzilopochtli, the god of war, came to defend her mother and balance the life of their universe. They all are an analogy of the earth, the sun, the moon and the stars. A powerful story to remember on the winter solstice.

I grew up listening to stories about La Siguanaba in Guatemala, mainly in my grandparent’s little town. Sometimes I would imagine this shapeshifting spirit walking outside of their house whenever I couldn’t sleep at night. My heart would pump faster if I heard horses galloping, which was more common in that town when I was a kid. I remember having a dream that my sister woke me up at 4 am to go and play outside my grandparent’s house. Legend says that La Siguanaba would lure children by inviting them to play outside. Sometimes I wonder if it was a dream or if it was La Siguanaba. I have heard stories from my tios and tios de amigos, and a friend’s mom who saw her walking from far away. So I wonder, are they just folk tales? Lies that the Catholic Church created to control people and make them afraid of going outside at night? Or is this mystical creature really out there, like a vigilante trying to scare unfaithful men and mischievous children like the folktale says?

If you have any stories about La Siguanaba, La Cigua or Cegua and want to share, I would love to read them. This legend always fascinated me.

First still life tintype of a series I will be doing every month. This one is a reflection on life and death.

Some of you have asked me about buying some of my photographs, I want to offer opportunity to buy one of nine 4x5” or one of three 8x10” tintypes I made of this still life.

Each of this plates are unique, hand crafted, signed and enumerated in the back.

The plates are enumerated in the order they were posted, the first two are 8x10, the rest are 4x5.

8x10 are $150 and 4x5 $60 if you are interested in buying one, post the number of the photo you are interested on purchase or send me a direct message with the number. I will ask for a deposit to reserve it for you and will hold for it on my studio. First come first serve.
