The goal was to quietly take engagement photos in the library.

The reality was three people trying (and failing) to whisper while making each other laugh every thirty seconds, a dog wondering why everyone was acting so weird, and all of us sweating through our clothes because apparently the library’s AC was taking the day off.

Somehow, between the giggling and our best attempts at being respectful library patrons, we ended up with some pretty great photos. I can’t wait for their wedding 💕

In honor of National Best Friend Day on June 8, I want to celebrate the kind of friends who show up, encourage, support, and love their people well.

We all know a family who deserves updated photos but hasn’t gotten around to it. Maybe life got busy, finances were tight, or they simply put everyone else before themselves. So this week, I’m inviting you to nominate a best friend who hasn’t had professional family photos taken in 5 or more years for a complimentary lifestyle family session.

I had the immense honor of capturing my friends’ maternity photos as they awaited the arrival of their son, Miles. During pregnancy, Miles was diagnosed with OI, and Kristen and Richard’s didn’t know what the future would look like for their family. But they trusted in the Lord.

A few weeks later, Miles was born, and shortly after, he went to be with Jesus. While grief can feel impossible to hold, Kristen and Richard did so knowing that Christ has defeated death and that our hope is secure in Him. Miles’ life, though brief, was deeply purposeful. The Lord used him to bring awareness to OI, to draw people together, and to remind so many of who He is during unbearable loss.

Today, we run a 5K in his honor to remember Miles and bring awareness to OI. This is why photography means so much to me. These are not just photographs — they are glimpses of legacy, love, and God’s faithfulness through every season. Being trusted to preserve stories like this is something I never take lightly. 💛
