Okay, St. Tammany Class of 2027… I’m looking at YOU. 👀

One thing I’m really excited about as I start photographing again is getting back into senior sessions.

Senior pictures should feel like you.

Your personality. Your style. Your interests. The things that make this season of your life yours.

And I’m tossing around another idea…

I would LOVE to find a Class of 2027 senior to represent my photography this year.

Can I tell you something photographers wish every mom knew?

Your kids DO NOT have to behave perfectly for family pictures.

Please don’t spend the entire drive there threatening everyone within an inch of their lives to smile for the photographer. 😂

Kids are kids.

They might be shy.

They might need five minutes to warm up.

They might decide running in circles is much more interesting than looking at my camera.

That’s okay.

I’d much rather work with their personalities than force them into perfect poses for 30 minutes.

So mama, come as you are.

Bring the wild kids.

We’ll figure it out. ❤️

Family pictures don’t have to look like everyone standing perfectly still and smiling at the camera.

Actually… some of my favorite photographs happen in between those moments.

The little looks.

Someone making someone else laugh.

Kids being completely ridiculous.

A toddler who absolutely refuses to participate. 😂

Those are usually the photographs that feel the most like your family.

Of course we’ll get the “everyone looking at the camera” picture for Grandma.

But then I want you to play with your kids, love on them and let me photograph the good stuff.

Because someday that’s the part you’re going to want to remember. ❤️

Something funny about coming back to photography is realizing just how different my life looks now compared to when I first started.

I’m a Navy veteran, a homeschooling mom of three, and we’re getting ready for another huge chapter as my husband retires from the Navy this year.

And somewhere in the middle of homeschool lessons, family life, kids’ activities and everything else that comes with this season… I’m making room for something creative that I loved for a very long time.

Photography.

I’m not trying to rebuild everything overnight.

I’m just really excited to start creating again. ❤️

I’ve never been a light-and-airy photographer.

Give me rich color. Deep shadows. Beautiful light. Bold contrast. 😍

I want my photographs to have depth and emotion to feel like a piece of art you could hang on your wall.

Every image I deliver is also hand-edited by me. I don’t use AI to edit my client galleries. Editing has always been part of the creative process I love just as much as taking the photograph itself.

Trends come and go, but this style has always felt like me.

Well… it’s official. I’m picking up my camera again. 📸

For years, photography was such a huge part of my life. I had the incredible honor of being voted Best Photographer in East St. Tammany two years in a row, and then life threw me a curveball and I had to step away for a while.

I wasn’t sure if I would ever come back to it professionally.

But lately I’ve found myself missing it, the creativity, chasing beautiful light, meeting families, making kids laugh, and then sitting down afterward and turning those moments into art.

So I’m opening my calendar again for families and seniors in the St. Tammany area, and I’m really excited to see where this new chapter takes me.

And if you’ve been following me since my old photography days, will you leave me a ❤️ below? I would LOVE to see how many of you are still here.

I’ve had a few people ask me if I’d do photos again. I’ve been seriously considering bringing Amber Mott Photography back for a limited number of family sessions starting in September.

Before I start planning, I wanted to see if there would be enough interest. If I opened my books again, would you want to book a family session?
