I don't spend a lot of time here telling you to buy my art. Most of the time, I really do just enjoy sharing what I'm painting, where I've been, and some ideas for making our homes feel a little more like us.

But I've realized there may be one thing I need to just put out there.
If price is what's keeping you from considering my art for your home, you might be very surprised.

At shows, I hear some version of “I love your work, but I could never afford it” fairly often. So I've started asking people what they think one of my prints costs.

$700? $1,000? I've even heard $2,000.

My signed fine art prints actually start at $35, with the standard sizes on my website topping out at $98.

So yes — they really are quite affordable.

This week's Home Inspiration is about starting with a piece of art that just feels right, then figuring out the size and the place for it.
Because if price is the thing that's been stopping you, I don't want an assumption to be the reason you walk away from art you love.

Does your art need to match your decorating style?

I don't think that's actually the best question.

The better one might be: **How do you want your home to feel?**

Calm and restful? Warm and collected? Colorful and expressive? Connected to places and memories that matter to you?

And here's where it gets interesting: the same piece of art can belong beautifully in very different homes.

I used one of my newest paintings, **Mariner's Flight**, to put that idea to the test — same painting, two completely different rooms.

This week's Home Inspiration is about choosing art by **belonging rather than matching**.

I’ve been doing a little digging into how we’re decorating our homes right now—and something interesting kept surfacing.
It’s not necessarily about being able to name your decorating style. It’s about knowing what feels like you.

So, looking at these four rooms, where does your eye go first?
1 — Collected & Storied
Warm, layered, timeless and personal.
2 — Natural & Restful
Calm, organic, warm and serene.
3 — Joyful & Expressive
Colorful, eclectic, bold and individual.
4 — Sense of Place
Meaningful, personal, memorable and connected to places you love.

Don’t overthink it. Which feels most like the home you want to live in—1, 2, 3 or 4?

And yes, “I’m a 1 with a little 3” is absolutely an acceptable answer. 😊

Lost in memories of my day on Santorini.
I remember exactly where I was standing when I took the reference photo for this one — halfway up a narrow street, caught off guard by this archway of bougainvillea. It's the kind of color you don't quite believe until you're standing in it.
I'm just letting the memory lead the way with this one — the light, the color, that quiet feeling of being somewhere that felt outside of time. It's still taking shape on the easel, but I wanted to share where it's at.

Lost in memories of my day on Santorini 🇬🇷
There’s a moment on this island where you turn a corner and just stop — bougainvillea spilling over a whitewashed archway, impossibly bright against all that white and blue. I took the photo impulsively. Months later, it’s the one on my easel — and honestly, I’m just enjoying letting the color and the memory lead the way.

In honor of World Photography Day a photograph that I can't bring myself to paint....

Most of the posts I share are of my paintings. But first...I start every painting with a photograph. And every once in awhile...I just don't even bother with painting. It's just perfect as it is.

On the final day of my July exhibition, I received a recognition I wasn't expecting—and the words on it meant a great deal to me.

During the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce's after-hours mixer at the East County Art Association, Kyle Hermann, representing California State Senator Brian Jones, presented me with a Certificate of Recognition.

It recognized not simply the exhibition, but *“uplifting dedication to the betterment of the community”* through art—and the way my work preserves meaningful stories of nature, place and personal legacy.

Those words landed with me.

I love making beautiful artwork. I love the challenge of taking something I've encountered through my camera and developing it into a finished piece worthy of someone's home. But I've also always believed that creativity is richer when it reaches beyond ourselves—when it helps someone remember, notice, learn, participate, or see something familiar with fresh eyes.

The certificate has now found a home in my studio, in the window just above my editing computer, alongside other community recognitions I've been fortunate to receive over the past decade or so.

It's a good place for it.

Not tucked away in a drawer, but right where I work—a quiet reminder that the things we create and contribute have a way of traveling farther than we sometimes know.

Thank you to Senator Brian JonesJones and his office for this very meaningful recognition, and to Kyle Hermann for presenting it on such a fitting evening—surrounded by my artwork, friends and members of our East County community.
