I know, it's been 84 years... 😅
You may have noticed I haven't been around much over the past year, and I have some news to share. After a lot of thought, I've decided to take a break from portrait and homecoming photography for the foreseeable future. As many of you know, my health struggles have always been a bit unpredictable, and managing all of the physical demands of shoots and the resulting aftermath has become increasingly challenging over the past few years.
After navigating a deployment, two cross-country road trips, and back-to-back moves all within a year while trying to maintain my energy and creativity for my business, I realized that I'd hit my limit physically and mentally. I needed to take a step back to prioritize my health, focus on getting settled in our new life, and reset.
Moving here and finding out homecoming photography is not allowed on base felt like one final sign to reassess and directed me back toward my original focus, web design. While I've always dabbled in web design and brand photography for my portrait clients who also had small-business needs, I'm excited to now be able to dedicate my photography and web design background to brand development full-time while I also continue my education. Logging on to work from home instead of lugging 20lbs of gear across a pier or up a mountain is definitely a perk too, though I'll miss those days of sprinting to the flight line to greet a returning squadron and hiking to a secluded beach to beat sunrise!
I'm incredibly grateful for all of the connections I've made and the locations I've been able to explore with all of you over the past 12 years, 6 states, and 3 countries 🤯 It's been a privilege to capture your deployment reunions, watch your families grow and change, and catch up with you all when orders eventually brought us back together. Your support and trust over the years have been incredible, and I'm truly grateful.
I may continue sharing previous sessions, travel photos, and passion projects here and on Instagram as I organize my archives and explore our new home here in Washington. While I won't be offering portrait and homecoming photography for now, I hope to cross paths with you all again and will keep everyone posted if and when I decide to offer more client sessions in the future!
