There’s just something about film. It captures light and tones like nothing else. One of my favorite things that I get to do is gift my couples with the family portraits from their wedding day on film. I’m still photographing weddings in a time where their parents wedding portraits were also taken on film, so it feels a little more like continuing the legacy. Film is a feeling I can’t find in anything else.

I tell people my favorite movie is ‘Almost Famous’, but it’s really ‘Back to the Future’. 🤷‍♀️Recently I’ve been talking with some of my favorite industry friends and I keep saying we need to think about things in our businesses, “fourth dimensionally”.

Throughout the whole B2TF movie, Doc keeps telling Marty he’s not, “Thinking fourth dimensionally!” to which Marty replies, “Yeah, I got a real problem with that.” And I’m like me too Marty, me too.

What that means essentially, is seeing things outside the box or seeing things outside of the three dimensions we can see right in front of us. Thinking beyond the realms of industry standard and in what ways we can make our business work for us instead of vice versa.

So what does fourth dimensionally look like as a wedding photographer? It looks like taking an entire month off in the middle of wedding season to recharge, having a H1 22’ and H2 22’ of your wedding season instead of 8 months of grueling back to back, non-stop work, it looks like only booking couples and sessions that completely align with your brand values, it means setting aside time for education and growth.

The 22’ season has shown up in a really big fourth dimensional way for me and it’s changed everything. Hit like, comment, and subscribe for more inspirational life coach stuff I’ve taken from 80’s movies. 🙃

So, huge shout out to all of my clients because getting in front of the camera is really freaking hard! It takes a lot of courage to let some photograph you. It’s a very vulnerable experience and you absolutely need someone who knows what they’re doing to get you through it, someone you trust completely. (Thank you San Diego & Coronado Photographer] for being all these things and more!) PSA to photographers: get in front of the camera! It’s so uncomfortable, but it’s also invaluable. Doing this has helped me learn so much and how I can better serve my clients knowing what the experience is like from their end. *NEW* VRP is coming! New website, new branding, same amazing photography you can count on. Sounding like a tire company is *not* part of the new branding, that was just a preview of my lackluster copywriting skills you’ve grown to love.
