This little girl had dreamed of seeing New York — and even living here — since she was a child🥹
For many years, that dream felt so far away, almost impossible. I was completely obsessed with this city. I would look for ways to move here and imagine what my life in New York could be like. That dream stayed with me throughout my childhood, until I was about 19.
But somewhere around the age of 20, something inside me changed. I started falling more and more in love with my own city, my country, and truly appreciating the things that once seemed so ordinary — being able to see my family every day, to be close to my sister and my parents, simply to be home.
At some point, New York was no longer my biggest dream.
My family became my “New York.” ❤️
And with every passing year, I became more certain that being close to them was more valuable to me than any dream I had as a little girl.
But life unfolded in a way that she could never have imagined. I had to leave behind what had become far more important to me than any childhood dream. And the path that eventually brought me here was definitely not the one I had once dreamed of.
And yet, today, the dream of that little girl finally came true — she got to see New York🗽🥹
But the dream of who I am today is still ahead of me.
Now I dream of coming back here one day with my family. I want to see this city again through the eyes of my sister and my parents, walk these streets with them, and share all of these moments together.
Maybe then it won’t be the dream of that little girl coming true anymore…
It will be the dream of the woman she became❤️
And I truly hope that one day, it will happen.
Never stop dreaming.
Because dreams really do come true✨
