Fall has always felt like a season of change… the leaves begin to shift, the air turns cooler, and everything around us slowly transforms.

There’s something so beautiful about expecting a baby during this season of change… growing, waiting, dreaming, and slowly becoming a family.

A moment for her.

Because your wedding day can feel like a whirlwind.

There are timelines to follow, people to greet, photos to take, details to remember, and a million little things happening around you.

But somewhere in the middle of all of it, I want you to have a moment where you can just… breathe.

Take in your dress.
Look at your person.
Laugh with your friends.
Let yourself feel it all.

Those are the moments I love photographing most… not just because they’re beautiful, but because they’re *yours. *

Happy September! A little hello to the new faces around here and a heyooo to everyone who have been supporting me from afar and near.

Hi! I’m Cannie. The person behind the camera. Virginia based wedding and portrait photographer, full-time pharmacist, lover of pretty flowers, good coffee and matcha, travel, and documenting the people I love.

I realized that lately, this space has been very much wedding photographer Cannie… which I love, obviously. But there’s also a whole person behind the camera who has been trying to slow down and take better care of herself.

This year has been busy in the best ways, the most chaotic ways, and sometimes in the “Wait, when was the last time I actually sat down?” ways.

The simple things I’ve caught myself routinely using and doing that just make me happy…

YSL Beauty Official Make Me Blush liquid blush that lasts. I tend to roll out of bed and head out the door looking like a naked mole rat. I found that this liquid blush is quick and easy to use for everyday wear.

My weekends are incomplete if I can’t stop by the Fredericksburg Farmers Market. I love starting my weekend mornings with The DMV’s First All-Salvadoran Coffee Trailer choco nano and/or canoa cold brew… don’t judge but I usually get both.

Also, poptarts from Lillian Nathalie. They’re at the FXBG Farmers Market every other weekend so you can bet I grab a couple when I see them. My favorite summer flavor has been their raspberry filling with the fruity pebbles icing.

Currently obsessed with Mizu Lab Hydration Drink Mix… I LOVE Asian flavored drinks. I bring a pack or two to work and to a wedding day. They keep me well hydrated and even go back for some more. I’ve loved all their flavors but their Muskat and Aloe is probably my most favorite. Oh and I’ve found myself drinking less boba bc of these 🥲

Lately, I’ve been…

Trying to take a little better care of myself. I’ve been lifting heavier weights to strengthen my back, getting outside more, actually remembering to eat lunch, and making space for things that have absolutely nothing to do with work.

I’ve also been fully obsessed with summer citrus salads and durian mochi. During our last trip back home, my cousin introduced us to NUO MOCHI and man….. I was obsessed.

Walk into The Estate at River Run | Virginia Luxury Wedding Venue and you immediately understand why I didn’t want to reinvent the space.

It’s already beautiful… historic, layered, warm, and full of character. My goal with Blue Ridge Revelry was simply to elevate what was already there without losing the feeling of the estate itself.

We kept the ceremony in the Blue Room intentionally simple: garden chairs, a modern red rose installation, and that incredible chandelier overhead.

Then outside toward the James River, the mood shifted.

A serpentine table, satin linens paired with linen draping, a locally sourced grazing table, and Ya Yun Lin painting the day in real time.

For dinner, we moved to the front lawn with a half-moon reception layout, ruffled linens, and the sweetest little snow pea place cards with each guest’s name written directly on them.

As the sun set behind the table, everyone was facing one another, less focus on the production, more room to actually enjoy the people sitting across from them.

And honestly, that was the heart of Blue Ridge Revelry.

Elevated, yes. Refined, absolutely.

But never so polished that you lose the emotion underneath it.
