I’m just here to do dumb s**t.

Truly the gem of the 80’s s*x comedy genre.

This movie sets up the scene, vibe, and all the characters in the first ten minutes. You know all Their wants and needs and the story is primed for fun and games. Every scene raises the stakes and escalates to a point of tension. Then there’s the gratuitous nudity. A cornerstone of the 1980’s that lack in today’s movies. Very cathartic for the tension just like the tension and release of a modern day romantic pursuit. This movie stars a young, freshly minted, Johnny Depp, Rob Morrow, Andrew Dice Clay, and a few other surprise actors that did not disappoint. I recommend this one, just watch it after you put the kids to be. Great late night fun.

Just watched Hardbodies and damn… this is peak 80s chaos 😂
It’s ridiculous, h***y, and honestly kinda dumb but that’s exactly why it works. Total time capsule of beach culture, bad decisions, and zero shame. Not a “good” movie but absolutely a fun one if you’re in the right mood.

You can be a king or a street sweeper, sooner or later, you’ll dance with the reaper.

If you strip the Matterhorn Bobsleds down to its core, it’s just a roller coaster.

So why does it still hit harder than most modern rides?

Because it understands something simple: danger makes magic.

In this breakdown, I dive into how the ride used to use restraint—building tension with darkness, silence, and just a pair of glowing eyes—before revealing the Yeti at exactly the right moment. And why the newer version, with screens and early reveals, kills that buildup before it even starts.

This isn’t just about one ride.
It’s about why conflict, fear, and anticipation are what actually make an experience memorable.

You’re not just riding a coaster…
you’re escaping something.

And that changes everything.

You think you know who the main character is in A Nightmare on Elm Street… and then the movie kills her.

That’s not bad writing. That’s a calculated move.

The film introduces Tina like she’s our way into the story—our eyes, our anchor, our “final girl.” We learn the rules through her: Freddy lives in your dreams, and what happens there follows you into the real world.

Then she dies.

And just like that, the movie takes something from you: trust.

Now you don’t know who to follow. You don’t know who’s safe. You don’t even know if the story is playing fair anymore.

That’s the real horror.

This isn’t just a slasher about a dream demon—it’s a film that teaches you early on that anything can happen, and once it does that, you’re stuck in it.

Because unlike other horror movies… you have to sleep.

A few thoughts on the 1982 Tobe Hooper classic “Poulterguist.”
