AI is changing our industry, and I’ve been thinking a lot about what that actually means for us as photographers.

I’m excited about where some of these tools are headed, but I’m even more interested in what they might allow us to spend more time doing.

The craft still matters. Maybe more than ever.

I’ve also got something pretty cool happening in this space that I’ll be able to share soon. 👀

Andrew Bramasco and I will be digging into a lot of this at Real Estate Media, Refined this November at PMRE in Las Vegas. Looking forward to learning, sharing, and having some good conversations with everyone there.

Best equipment purchase of 2026!

This cart is a game changer for me… I frequently have full day shoots where I’m on location for up to 14 hrs. This little cart has made my life so much easier lately, I can’t believe I went this long without one. I think it’s like $500. Tbh, it’s not the sturdiest, most robust cart on the market. But it’s not $2k+ either. It folds up and fits in my awesome little truck you see behind it along with all my other equipment.
If you’re old like me, and you think this may be helpful, don’t hesitate and just get it. Search for Tarion Titanrig Cart Pro on B&H and it comes quickly.

One of the biggest misconceptions in architectural and real estate photography is that wide-angle lenses create distortion.

They don’t.

Perspective distortion is created by camera position. The lens simply determines how much of that perspective fits into the frame.

Move closer and objects nearest the camera become exaggerated. Step back and the relationships between the architecture, furniture, and space become more natural.

Understanding that distinction changed the way I approached composition. Instead of asking, “What lens should I use?” I started asking, “Where should I stand?”

That single shift changed the way I see a room.

We’ll be exploring concepts like this in depth at the PMRE Workshop in Las Vegas this November, where we’ll test these ideas in real spaces and see how small decisions can dramatically change the final image.

Every home has a story. Some just leave a bigger impression than others.

I learned after this shoot that the family had called this place home for nearly 30 years. By the time we delivered the film, they told us they had watched it together through tears.

That meant more to me than any compliment about the cinematography ever could.

Grateful to Jordan Beal for trusting us with another special project, to Aaron Packer and his lovely wife for helping bring it to life, and to mine, Mary Grace Kasl for being there every step of the way. Couldn’t have done this one without all of you! ❤️

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was, “Get the shot list done, then make one image for yourself.”

This was mine.

Last frame of the day, not on the shot list, and it ended up being my favorite from the project.

Really grateful to Public Label Agency for bringing me in, and to the team at Cutwater for trusting me to photograph such a beautifully designed space.

I once watched a tutorial from Scott Frances that made a simple point about camera height.

It was not about finding a universal number or shooting every room from the same place. It was about paying attention to where the camera sits in relation to the architecture, furniture, and lines.

That idea stuck with me because it keeps proving itself. Move the camera up or down a few inches and the whole room can change. Furniture gains or loses presence. Ceilings expand or compress. Lines either settle into place or start fighting each other.

Before I worry about lighting, I want to find the height where the room feels balanced and intentional.

Simple principle. Huge impact.

This is the kind of compositional decision we’ll be breaking down, testing, and proving in real time at the PMRE workshop in Las Vegas this November.

I heard a really beautiful story about the family who built this home and why they’re choosing to move on.

It’s not my story to tell, but I’m glad I got to hear it.

It was a good reminder that “having it all” looks different for everyone.

Well… after a LOT of late nights obsessing over details, rebuilding pages, changing my mind 400 times, and rethinking the direction of my work, the new website is finally live! 😂

Over the last few years I’ve found myself getting more and more pulled toward architecture, interiors, hospitality, mood, atmosphere, and design-focused projects, and I wanted the site to better reflect where my creativity has been heading.
