This cute female Common Yellowthroat is usually shy and unseen, however, on this day she was brave enough to show herself to me for about five minutes! I was very excited and took a number of photos, this is one of my favorites.

While at the Zoo Thomas went off to locate a restroom and when he came back he told us about this baby African Crowned Crane he had spotted, so we all went over to take a look!

This little guy was permanently attached to his mothers side but when she suddenly moved to the river area to get a drink he was forced to follow giving me a nice bit of time to get photos of him unobstructed :)

This Osprey was seen at the entrance of San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary. Osprey's are raptors and catch fish by flying high overhead and flapping its wings in such a way that it will hover over one area while searching for food below. Once a fish is spotted the Osprey will dive straight down into the water and attempt to grasp it. If successful the Osprey will fly out of the water and into a tree to eat it's meal. It truly is awesome to watch!

This is an Orange Bishop, an African bird that somehow found it's way here in Southern California. It was fun to watch but took a couple different trips to the area that it's been camping at to find it. They have an almost metallic sound to their call, "Tink Tink" and they are fun to watch chase other birds away from the area. This little guy was a pain to photograph since it was constantly moving and putting it's face in it's food.
