Car crash on trolley tracks causes delays• Chula Vista
CHULA VISTA, Calif. — At approximately 5:41 p.m. on August 21, the Chula Vista Police Department, along with the Chula Vista Fire Department, responded to a reported traffic collision involving a vehicle on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Palomar Street and Industrial Boulevard.

During the incident, Chula Vista police officers reportedly used a police vehicle to push the disabled vehicle off the railroad tracks and away from the immediate danger area.

All parties were able to exit the vehicle. One male was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The extent of his injuries has not been released.

A vehicle involved in the collision was also reported to have children inside at the time of the incident. No additional information regarding the children has been made available to the public.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear, and additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.

Cover Now • East Village

SAN DIEGO — August 20, 2026: At approximately 10:46 a.m., officers responded to the area of 11th & Market Street for a report of an individual running in the roadway.

Officers pursued the individual through the streets, eventually catching up with the suspect near 11th Avenue and Island Avenue. The male reportedly became combative and resisted officers, prompting a responding unit to call for additional cover.

Officers ultimately placed the suspect in a WRAP restraint system to further restrain him and bring the situation under control.

No additional information regarding injuries or potential charges was immediately available.

Overnight Persuit • National City

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (July 25, 2026) — A driver was taken into custody early Saturday morning after allegedly fleeing from a National City police traffic stop, leading officers on a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into a fence.

According to available information, the incident began at approximately 1:33 a.m. when officers with the National City Police Department attempted to stop a red pickup truck for an alleged moving violation. Instead of pulling over, the driver reportedly fled, prompting a short police pursuit.

The pursuit came to an end after the driver crashed into a fence. A large police response converged on the scene, and officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The driver appeared to be under the influence, according to initial observations at the scene. However, authorities have not released the suspect’s identity or confirmed whether DUI-related charges have been filed.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at 1150 Broadway ST at 13:08 just to find out it was actually someone who stole a bag of sour patch kids worth $5. The man screamed he had a gun in his backpack and has not been located.

SDPD is investigating.

Vegetation Fire • Granville

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on June 9, the San Diego Fire Department and San Diego Police Department responded to a brush fire at 5920 Fairmont Ave. in the parking lot of a dealership.

Upon arrival, the fire had begun spreading into nearby trees and surrounding brush. Officers used a fire extinguisher to help stop the fire’s spread until firefighters arrived and fully extinguished the blaze.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Parents Crash With Kids • Old Memory Lane

At 23:24 The San Diego Police & Fire Department were dispatched out to a Traffic collision involving a parked vehicle. Upon arrival units spotted a yellow truck with a vehicle at its rear bumper and a black vehicle with minimum front end damage. Inside the vehicle was a female, male driver and 2 kids.

After speaking to witnesses they heard a loud boom before several neighbors came out side to see the damage. One female was transported to the hospital and a boy about 10 years old suffered minor injuries. The driver was on probation, he a suspended license and no insurance on the vehicle.

The San Diego Police Department is still investigating the accident and has not released any details.

Graduated Racers • 125 @ College Ave

At 21:21 the california highway patrol spotted and received calls about 3 cars stopping in the freeway on the 125 and College Ave each lining up to race. CHP rushed multiple units to the scene and upon arrival saw one vehicle with all passengers hanging out of the window.

CHP managed to stop all 3 vehicle by initiating traffic break to stop the vehicles. Upon asking the driver they stated that they had just graduated and were trying to have fun. CHP cited the individuals involved for impeding traffic and allowing passengers to not wear seatbelts. The incident concluded without further incident.

Pursuit Suspect Caught • Chula Vista

At 12:21 AM, May 25th, a male was caught speeding 120 in a 65. He rode up next to CHP and stared at them before taking off. He took off all throughout san diego until CHP and ASTREA managed to track him down to Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista Police Department, National City Police Department along with the California Highway Patrol managed to set up a perimeter around the house and soon was told that the male was spotted going inside of a residence by the helicopter. Police got everyone out of the house and the suspect himself came out wearing different clothes blending in with the rest of the house members and soon was taken into custody.

Fatal Shooting • Eastlake

On Tuesday, May 19, at approximately 10:32 p.m., officers with the Chula Vista Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting in the Walmart parking lot located in the 1300 block of Eastlake Parkway in Chula Vista. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered life-saving aid until the victim was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased despite medical efforts.

The victim was identified as an 18-year-old male from Chula Vista. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Following the incident, the suspect contacted 911 to report the shooting and remained at a nearby location until officers arrived. The suspect was identified as Thomas Perez, 32, of Chula Vista. Preliminary investigation indicates that Perez and the victim were involved in a physical altercation when Perez allegedly produced a holstered firearm from his waistband and discharged the weapon, striking the victim. Perez was subsequently taken into custody, transported to County Jail, and booked on a charge of murder under California Penal Code Section 187(a).

The Chula Vista Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is seeking additional information from the public. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the San Diego Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
