After an incredible extended run, Be Seen: The Genius and Gaze of Black Creatives will have a closing reception on Thursday, August 28, 6–9 PM at the African American Art & Culture Complex in San Francisco.
This show has been such an honor to create and share — a celebration of Black brilliance, artistry, and vision. I’m so grateful for the many conversations, connections, and moments of recognition that have happened in this space.
Join me for one last evening to experience the work, connect with the artists, and be part of the energy that is Be Seen.

I’m proud to officially announce the opening reception for Be Seen: The Genius and Gaze of Black Creatives—a portrait photography project documenting Black artists and creative entrepreneurs in the Bay Area.

Set in local outdoor and public art sites, Be Seen creates a visual narrative and living archive claiming rightful space for Black creatives in nature while representing their individual talents and gaze.

Bring a friend, bring your joy, bring your full self.

This week marks the 1 year anniversary of my first solo photography show.

The day of my show is also the day that I received the news that my Be Seen Project had received an SF Arts Commission grant.

Though not required, I curated this show as part of my residency with Artist As First Responder.

The show, the grant, and the residency brought my life into the direction I had been dreaming of, so I’m very happy to share this memory.

My previous post includes my Artist speech from Wonder and Light.
