Black tie in the redwoods for a camp “high-low” affair that felt perfectly true to them.
The groom reunited with his high school band for the after party, and for their final song, the bride joined them on stage. It was every bit as fun as it sounds (see the last slide).

These are the kinds of engagement sessions that remind me not to take living in the Bay Area for granted. I’ve spent my whole life here, but it always feels new when I get to experience it alongside a couple in love.
For these two, their first date was a walk through Golden Gate Park that lasted five hours. Safe to say, long walks became part of their story. So for their engagement session, we wandered the trails at Lands End and the cliffs above Sutro Baths together before they celebrate their marriage later this summer at the University Club, sure to be beautifully planned by 🌿

Before the camera, there is connection. 🤍

A lot of couples worry they’ll feel awkward in front of the camera on their wedding day. One of the best ways to ease that feeling beforehand? Engagement photos.
Not because you need to “practice posing,” but because it gives us time to get to know each other, settle in, and build trust before the wedding day arrives. By the time the wedding comes around, the camera already feels familiar.
Engagement portraits themselves have such a long history, dating back even before photography. What’s changed most over time is that the best images now tend to feel less formal and more personal — centered on connection, comfort, and how a relationship actually feels.

We are heading towards it; I can feel it. The unofficial start to summer is just a few days away. The forever kid in me will always pick summer as my favorite season. The prospect of long sunny warm days, adventure, the smell of sunscreen, time in the water…I’m here for it all! 😎
