I’ll never understand many sacrifices that were made in order to keep a young rambunctious boy safe and headed toward adding value in today’s world. The prayers, the late nights, along with the rest of the things that boys get into. I am beyond blessed to get to call you mom. I am forever grateful. Happy Mother’s Day BJ!!

Reflection — Installment 48

People often say you should forget your past.

I don’t buy that.

Your past is the map that helps you understand how you arrived here. When you look back honestly, you begin to see the moments, the decisions, and even the hands of others that shaped your path.

Lately I’ve found myself talking more about the early parts of my life. And one thing stands out clearly: I was made on purpose. During a conversation last year my mother confirmed it. She said it was time to grow their family.

Looking back now, I can also see something deeper — God’s intention in it all.

I was placed here on purpose.

And today, I’m still walking in that purpose.

The man I’ve grown into now gets to build life with people. To love, to grow, to build, and to contribute to the lives of others. Because so much of our purpose is tied to the people around us.

No people, no purpose.

So as I close the page on 47 and begin writing 48, I’m reminded of that bright-eyed little boy who arrived here on purpose.

And he still is.

As you step into another year of life, I’m reminded of the daily and weekly moments we’ve been blessed to experience together. Watching you navigate life’s transitions — both the good and the challenging — has been inspiring. Seeing you step into new situations, grow alongside our seasoned parents, and embrace the new chapters unfolding in your own journey encourages me more than you know.
Those moments simply confirm what I already know: you are a mighty woman of faith and a mentor to other women and your relentless in your quest for excellence. I, along with everyone fortunate enough to cross your path, am blessed and better because of it.
