It’s crazy to me how many hearts this painting touched, especially because it came from a moment of utter frustration. I was doubting myself, my resilience, everything..and I had to literally sit myself down and give myself a pep talk. Paint to paper.

Seeing people pause, read it, feel something from it and take a copy home was such a reassuring moment. It reminded me that even in the moments you feel lost, what you create can still mean something to someone.

I hope someone reads this today who needs it the most.

Haven’t posted on my grid for a while because sharing beautiful pictures has started to feel a little tone-deaf in a world where so many people are living in fear every single day. My work has always been about noticing things and capturing them through photographs, art, or design. Yet lately it feels like we all need a small pause from the constant stream of content that shocks us and leaves us paralyzed.

Sometimes it honestly feels like a war on consciousness. As if the goal is to keep us so consumed by fear that we stop moving, stop thinking, stop feeling anything else. Do you know what I mean?

But today I had a small epiphany. If this is what’s happening to us, then photographers actually have a bigger responsibility. Maybe our role is to capture the beauty that still surrounds us to help neutralize the fear and remind people that something as simple as a sunrise carries immense beauty.

No matter where you are in the world, this is one thing that was shared between you and me today: the sun rose for both of us.

And this is what my sunrise looked like.
Glorious. Magnificent. I’m in awe

God is truly the most spectacular artist ❤️

New milestone unlocked and the 10 year old Basmah in me is screaming rn!! 💃🏽🔓

It’s so wild to see something that started in my little sketchbook now hanging above the streets in Emeryville.

I’m so excited to share that one of the four banners I created for the City of Emeryville is now up on Hollis and Shelmound st. Here’s a little glimpse of how it all began.

Can’t wait to show you the other banners too!

It’s been five days since we last saw our sweet girl — Bugatti 😭

She got scared and ran away in the middle of our move. The last time we saw her was near in . She could be anywhere right now in the Easy Bay. We’ve exhausted all our resources looking for her and so far we’ve had no luck.

Kind humans in the East Bay, if you see a black cat wandering around, please reach out or share a spotted location. If you manage to catch her, please take her to your closest vet since she is microchipped. Or you can even call or for assistance if you think you can’t approach her.

If you’re trying to catch her, just know that she is food and play motivated. Right now, she must be really hungry and will come to you immediately if you shake a bag of treats. I can assure you, she is not violent nor will she bite or scratch you. If anything, she will come give you head bumps because she’s a social cat and does not like being alone. She’s probably just really scared hiding in a dark place. So look around in the shade while you’re walking.

We’re desperate to get our girl back. She is everything to us and we are beyond devastated. We want her back so bad.

Please help us find Bugatti. I know she wants to come home too 😭😭😭

These are literal windows into my life. I painted all of these in nature, in the very spots that inspired them. I picked up the brush instead of the camera because I wanted to slow down and be more present. I can honestly say I lived these moments, completely in the present, and now I can’t believe they’ve all found a new home.

Now they are someone else’s windows to look through and feel something deeply, just like I did. This is an example for me of art coming full circle. It begins with someone wanting to express an emotion, and somehow, miraculously, it finds its way to someone who needs it.
