Paige & Luke. The Madrona Hotel, Healdsburg.

Built in 1881, The Madrona carries the kind of history you can actually feel — in the Victorian bones, the wraparound porch, the gardens that have been growing for over a century. Destination Wedding Planner leaned into all of it, building an old-world French aesthetic that felt less like a wedding design and more like a world Paige & Luke actually lived in. Noble Floral Company deep burgundy florals, toile linens, velvet ribbons, garlic heads on the table like the most considered afterthought. Every detail in conversation with the venue itself.

I found this photo from a wedding I shot alongside Meghan Baskin last year and it stopped me in my tracks.

Not one person is looking at the camera. Not one. Fifty some people packed into a small space, all feeling the same thing at the same time and none of them thinking about being photographed.

That’s what got me. The Rabbi mid-laugh (or is that surprise?). The couple caught in reaction together. Every single face in the background — laughing, clapping, completely inside this one moment together. A room full of people who have known and loved each other for years, all pulled into the same moment.

This is the type of work I love to capture at weddings. Not just the editorial moments - though I love those too - but this. People fully present in their day and with their people. Those real moments. Those familiar connections.
