I enjoy all forms of photography, but nothing comes close to the passion and enthusiasm that I feel for portraiture and travel photography. Whether it is photographing family or friends, shooting contemporary lifestyle images, or capturing candids. Some photo shoots are fun for the obvious reasons. A helicopter definitely helps. 🚁

But I loved this one just as much for the reason behind it: photographing Mike Danko for his Super Lawyers feature.

Mike is genuinely one of the most down-to-earth people I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. And somewhere between portraits, I got an education in the surprisingly complicated process of choosing a new paint color for a helicopter.

Apparently, it’s a little like having your nail technician hand you 5,000 colors and say, “Choose one.” 😂

And from the sound of it, behind every successful helicopter redesign there may also be a very patient wife.

All joking aside, Mike and the team at Danko Meredith Fire Lawyers do extraordinary work as trial lawyers. I always enjoy photographing people whose personalities are wonderfully unassuming while the work they do carries serious weight.

Congratulations on the Super Lawyers feature, Mike. This was such a fun one to create.

This post is for Marienne, Tess’s mom, who is in Sweden.

I recently learned that she follows my work and that seeing my photographs brings her joy. That moved me more than I can properly put into words.

These portraits are of her granddaughter, Hilda.

There is something very special about photographing someone young and knowing the image may travel across distance, across generations, across oceans, and land in the heart of someone who loves her.

Photography can be many things. It can be art, memory, expression, documentation. But sometimes it becomes something even simpler and more human.

A way of saying:
Look at her.
She is here.
She is beautiful.
She is loved.

Photography has always been about more than appearance to me.

The right portrait holds presence, truth, and the quiet moments people are often too busy to acknowledge in themselves.

Seeing Joy featured in Modern Luxury’s Wellness Issue felt especially meaningful because of the honesty behind her words and the season she chose to speak from.

A reminder that the strongest images are rarely about perfection. They’re about presence.

Thank you, Joy, for bringing honesty, depth, and humanity into this feature.

The pause is the point.
You know when something doesn’t fully make sense yet, but you can feel it anyway.

Last year was like that for me.
It moved slower than I expected. Messier than planned. Very human.
Choosing the wrong partners. Trusting too fast. Losing time and money. Hitting moments where I had to stop pushing and actually listen instead of forcing momentum. That part was hard.

There were stretches where it looked like nothing was happening. And at the same time, everything was shifting.
I chose to push the work in a different direction. One that expanded me and, at times, felt destabilizing. Not because it was wrong, but because it required me to outgrow what had worked before.

I couldn’t articulated it. I just felt it.

I started a full rebrand last January. New direction. New standards. New clarity… eventually.

Not the kind of growth that feels empowering while you’re in it. The kind that makes you question yourself, slow down, and rebuild things more honestly.

This is a reveal from my work in 2026.
Soft and strong. Quiet confidence.
The kind of pause that invites attention, without demanding it.

This work feels aligned. And it’s creating the kind of momentum the people I work with deserve.

Something new is coming.
Quietly. Intentionally.
