My passion is for capturing the moments that tell the story. I would love to capture the image that brings you back and helps you remember the colors, the smells, the joys of the season you are in now.

Hi. I’m Lila.

I photograph women who are building real things.

Businesses. Creative work. Community.
Lives that feel layered and complicated and worth documenting.

Most of my clients start by telling me they don’t love having their photo taken.
Or that they’re not photogenic.
Or that they’ve never liked photos of themselves.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

You don’t have to perform.
You don’t have to know how to pose.

You just have to show up.

I’ll guide you.
I’ll see you.
And we’ll make something honest.

We might even have fun doing it.

If you’re new here, especially from Women of SF, I’m really glad you found me.

Stay awhile.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference between being visible and being recognizable.

Most business owners I know aren’t trying to become influencers. They’re just trying to do good work, connect with the right people, and be easy to hire.

And for that to happen, people need to be able to see you.

Not perfectly. Not constantly. Just clearly enough that when someone lands on your website, Instagram, or newsletter, they feel oriented. Like, “Okay. I know who I’m hearing from. I know where I am.”

That’s the part I care about.

So, I’m offering a small set of Extended Portrait Mini Sessions in February.

Friday 2/20
Bayview, San Francisco (beautiful studio space)
35 minutes
25 finished images
Time for 1 outfit change
$850

If you book within the next 48 hours, you’ll receive $100 off.

If updated portraits have been sitting on your to-do list, this is a really good way to take care of it.

Five years ago, when we started our fall photography fundraiser for the school, we were begging families to sign up.

Now? It’s a tradition that sells out fast!

When something is aligned — your values, your work, your community — people feel it.

So thankful for the families who’ve shown up, year after year, and made this tradition what it is. And a big thank you to those families who signed up this year. Can’t wait to photograph you all!

You don’t need to be “camera ready” to book brand photos.

What you do need:

✔ A sense of who you are
✔ Clothes that feel like you
✔ A willingness to laugh when I make bad jokes

That’s it. The rest? I’ll take care of.

The best marketing?

Showing up in a way that’s rooted in your values.

People notice. They feel it.
And they think: “Oh, I want to work with her.”

I quit the PTA. Here’s why (and what happened instead).

I wanted to support my kids’ school, but after a year of committee meetings and emails, I realized it just wasn’t me. Deep love to those who thrive in that environment, it is so important, but my brain and my energy didn’t belong there.

What I did instead? I picked up my camera.
A tiny idea — ten-minute mini sessions — turned into a fundraiser that has raised around $5,000 a year for our school, opened doors for families, and quietly reshaped my business.

Here’s what I learned: when giving drains you, it’s not sustainable. But when you give in a way that feels aligned with what you love to do, it creates ripples that make waves.

I wrote a blog post about it! If you want to hear more click on over.

It’s happening again this year! McKinley families keep an eye on your inbox.

Let’s talk about the season everyone forgets to plan for—the in-between.

That weird stretch between Halloween and the New Year when everything business slows down while everything in life ramps way up.

If you’re a service provider or creative entrepreneur, chances are this season feels... quiet.
And that can be scary.
Or—hear me out—it can be an opportunity.

This is the window where you stop reacting and start reimagining.

Because slow doesn’t mean stagnant.
It means space. To reflect. To reset. To map the next move.

Want to hit the ground running in 2026 with a marketing plan and the visuals to match? Then the time to prep is now—not in January, when everyone’s shouting “new year, new me” into the void and your dream clients are already out there looking for someone like you.

When we photograph your brand now, you walk into next year with a full image library and a crystal-clear story.
No scrambling. No “What the hell do I post?” panic.
Just you—prepared, grounded, one step ahead.

And honestly? That’s the energy I’m taking into 2026.

Because this year has been a rough one for the world—and I’m ready to make the next one meaning-filled and impactful.

Let’s talk about professional brand photos and the photos you are taking yourself!

When people ask me if they need professional brand photos or if they can just take the photos themselves, my answer is always the same: you need both.

✨ Professional brand photography is the polished side of your story. Think: strategic portraits, process shots, gorgeous lifestyle images—the ones designed for your website, press features, or LinkedIn. (Pro tip: aim for 2–3 of these in every 9 photos on your grid.) These are the photos that say: I take my work seriously.

✨ DIY iPhone photography is the connective tissue. The details of your everyday work life. The behind-the-scenes mess. A snap of your latest project. Your kid wandering into your office mid-Zoom. Think of the iPhone photos you’ve already been taking. These are the images that say: I’m human, and you can trust me.

The truth is: your audience needs to see both.
One shows your credibility.
The other shows your humanity.
And when you have both, the contrast between the two makes story even clearer.

Using 100% professional photos isn’t sustainable—and can make you look so polished that you come off as untouchable.

Using only casual iPhone photos can feel too unfiltered—and risk making you look unprofessional.

But together? That’s where the real connection happens.

If you’re wondering which to lean into right now, ask yourself:
 — Do I need my work to look sharper and more professional?
 — Or do I need my audience to feel closer to me as a person?

There’s no wrong answer. It’s about balance.
The sweet spot is in the mix. And if you want help with the DIY side of things I have a guide for that! Download it and start batch creating powerful storytelling images.

No one talks about how hard it is to keep showing up when everything feels uncertain.

To keep posting.
To keep emailing.
To keep believing in what you’re building—when the algorithm is quiet, the bookings are slow, or your brain is full of doubt.

When the world is on fire and you start wondering:
Does this still matter?
Am I doing enough?

I’ve been asking myself that lately.
But here’s what I keep coming back to:

Telling stories still matters.
Creating still matters.
You? You still matter.

So if you’re in it right now—this is for you:
 → You’re not behind.
 → You’re not alone.
→ You’re doing better than you think.

Keep going.

The hard part doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re growing.
It means you’re showing up even when it’s hard—and that is so important.

Back-to-school energy isn’t just for the kids.

SFUSD is officially in session. And after a summer of momming hard, I actually feel a little thrill about sitting back down at my desk, catching up on projects, and getting clear on what’s next.

If you’re a business owner, you might be feeling it too. September feels like a reset button—a chance to look at what’s working, what’s not, and how you want to show up through the rest of the year.

And if “showing up” includes finally booking those brand photos you’ve been putting off? I’ve got you. Because nothing says new season, fresh energy like images that feel aligned with where you are right now.

Curious—what’s one thing you’re excited to reset or dive into this fall?

I tell people all the time: Get in front of the camera. Show your face. Let yourself be seen.

And yet… I’ve been meaning to book a session for myself for months. Maybe even start a little self-portrait project.

Have I done it yet?
Nope.

Somehow something else always feels more urgent.
Client work. Kids. Laundry. Literally anything else.

So yes, I get it. I really get it.

But I’m not giving up on it.
More portraits of me—actually me—are coming.
This is your reminder (and mine): you deserve to be seen too.
