π€ Metallica Homes Across the Bay: Part One
Before Metallica became a Bay Area institution, they were an L.A. band trying to recruit East Bay bassist Cliff Burton. Burton agreed to join on one condition: the band had to move north. So in 1983, Metallica relocated to El Cerrito.
Years later, we had the chance to photograph homes owned by some of the bandβs members.
First up: Lars Ulrichβs Tiburon estate, an approximately 13,000-square-foot home with 25+ rooms, panoramic Bay views, a recording studio, underground sports court, and one unforgettable bathroom with a giant saltwater aquarium.
Then thereβs James Hetfieldβs former Novato retreat, hidden on more than five acres, with a sound studio and a saltwater pool surrounded by natural boulders and a cascading waterfall.
Swipe through for the tour. π€
