The 31st annual Pink Triangle Installation & Ceremony. Some moments from earlier this morning đź’—

Thank you for organizing this and for posing for me in the last photo. Swipe through for the whole set.

I got there when the triangle had already been installed but the real stars are the volunteers who showed up early in the morning to put it together!

Earlier this morning, the Pink Triangle was installed in San Francisco. The 31st annual ceremony was preceded by hundreds of volunteers showing up and installing the flag.

The Pink Flag was revived in the 1970s as a symbol against homophobia, then was used “upside down” as a protest symbol during the height of the AIDS crisis (Silence=Death), and has been used to symbolize LGBTQ+ Pride ever since.

During the Holocaust triangles of various colors were used by the N***s to identify each category of “undesirable”: yellow for Jews (overlapped to create a Star of David), brown for Gypsies, red for political prisoners, green for criminals, black for anti-socials, purple for Jehovah’s Witnesses, blue for immigrants, and PINK for homosexuals.

The yearly commemoration ceremony on Twin Peaks not only recalls the past when the Pink Triangle was created in the 1930’s, but always includes current day examples of such hatred and persecution occurring right now.

It was beautiful being up there amongst the volunteers, families and all the allies.

Today in the Mission!! Everyone on 19th outside WILDHAWK knew what went down as the last band of the day performed! All i can say is that it was quintessential SF and the vibes were 10/10. A collective quirky human experience and I’m here for it! you guys killed it 🫶

It’s Carnaval weekend (23-24 May) and I’m so excited!! Carnaval San Francisco is the largest and longest-running multicultural celebration in California, with over 400,000 people in attendance every year. I attended it in 2024 and can’t wait to be a part of it again.

I was blown away by the elaborate costumes, the dances, the music, the vibrant display of culture and the whole celebration in itself ❤️

If you didn’t get a chance to attend the parade till now, I hope this reel pushes you to go do it this year.

The fact that it was free to attend and honors so many diverse cultures, speaks a lot about the fabric of San Francisco as a city. It’s a home to a melting pot of cultures and there is so much beauty in being able to share these traditions with people from all parts of the world 🫶

A roundup of all the parties happening at the Panhandle. Such a good time, crazy energy, good vibes and really good music so I let the original audio be. Everyone was such a good sport dancing and keeping the spirits high!! I got there around 11:15 am and by 12:30 the cops shut it all down. I really wish I had gone earlier to get some more time to dance because i was also taking photos alongside and the time felt too less. If you ran today or were at the panhandle around 11 am, try to find yourself in these and share it with your friends ❤️
