Portraits on Film • Nikon F 50mm f1.4

I’ve been shooting with film lately and it has been pushing my photography to the limits! I love how simple mechanical springs and gears can result in such amazing photos. With film, I’ve noticed that chasing light is even more important and there’s much less wiggle room to get the light right. That’s probably why photographers during the film era were masters of their craft.

Anyway, more film photos to come!

12/21/2022 • type 2 fun: this photo was taken after a long night sleeping in a tent and sleeping bag not rated for sub-32 degree weather. despite poor sleep, I got to see this gorgeous view of the eastern Sierras

Mission District, SF • 8/5/2022 // It’s been 4.5 years since I’ve moved to San Francisco, 2.5 of which I had been stuck inside. Despite this, it’s amazing just how much I’ve experienced in the past year and a half of post-COVID life. A new road is being paved, a life much different from what I came here with. // The closure of one chapter is not the end to the book. It’s merely the beginning of a new; the development and change that ensues is what makes life so interesting and fresh.

Half Dome + Rescue Mission

On our way down from Upper Yosemite Fall, we pulled off into a nice vista point of the waterfall, the valley, and Half Dome. Across the falls, I noticed 2 people on the edge of the cliff which I thought was quite odd. In the distance, I hear a helicopter whirling closer and closer, as if it was heading straight for us. It was obvious that we were witnessing a rescue mission for these folks that got stranded on the side of the mountain. It was amazing how dangerously close they were to the cliff side while maintaining so much control in picking the stranded folks up. Glad to say that they were transported safely.

Yosemite was a waterfall wonderland
4/23/2023 • with the insane storms that moved through California this winter, Yosemite’s water system was in full effect. Little trickles to roaring torrents, I haven’t seen this valley look quite so alive.

This gets me thinking about how though the storms may be unpleasant at times, the spring will always show up, creating beautiful landscapes, for all to enjoy.
