It’s one of those things that I used to do less of when things got rough. It just seemed trivial and unserious. But the truth is that tapping into my creativity allows me to tap into my creativity. And I need that access more when the going gets tough. How about you?

Please join me tomorrow as we talk about cultivating creativity in times of crisis and challenges, and how leaning into that practice of expression can be a source of grounding, surviving and thriving!

Business Bruja: Birthwork & Branding with Ajira Darch
‪Saturday, May 2, 2020 | 11am-1:30pm PST/ 2pm-4:30pm EST‬
2.5hr Online Workshop

Description:
Birthwork is hard. Building business tools doesn't have to be.

To effectively build a website, write educational and promotional materials, and cultivate a professional social media presence, we must have a clear understanding of our BRAND. This process can bring up SO MANY QUESTIONS that then trigger stress & overwhelm:

* How do I stay authentic to myself when feeling the pressure of a million other voices?
* How do I promote my services when they include offerings in and outside of birthwork?
* Regarding promotion, how do I know what to talk about and to whom?
* How do I built consistency across all my platforms?
* How the heck do I use social media effectively?
* Do I need to send out monthly emails?
Facilitation Format
This workshop will be structured like a think tank- meaning, instead of a prepared slide show presentation, it will be based off the needs of the individuals who show up. Therefore, please come prepared with 3-5 questions you would like answered in a Q&A format.

To Register:
Course fee $47
Send payment: Venmo: , CashApp: $EriGJohnson, or Paypal: paypal.me/erigjohnson
Be sure to include your email and the course title in the notes!

Once payment is received, you will receive an email confirmation within 24hrs with further information. Email [email protected] if you do not receive your confirmation email.

*There are limited full and partial scholarships available. Email [email protected] by the end of ‪Thursday, April 23rd‬ with a short share about yourself and why you want to attend.

👋🏾 Hey there, friend! I’m Ajira! I’m a full spectrum community birthworker and birth & branding photographer. I love talking to birthworkers about how to level up their businesses with more ease and connect with the people they want to serve.

👧🏾 My hair’s been in the same braids for two weeks and is fluffy as hell right now. I went to a birth on Sunday and then helped launch a course with on Tuesday!

🌻 Although birth clients have understandably slowed down due to covid19 fears I’ve found that this has been a wild opportunity to lean into my self-care and reframe my work.

❤️ All this to say that I am not by any means perfect nor do I know anywhere near everything, but I would love to share what I do know with you! I’d love to save you some time and stress!

🌟 I am so so SO thrilled to announce that in a a little over a week I’m offering a workshop on the platform. I’ll be answering alllll your questions about pivoting, reframing and launching your birthworker business and branding.

🥳 Come join us! Visit or see next post for details!

Hey you! Slow that scroll for a minute.

Guess what? It’s your LAST CHANCE to sign up for our vision board crafting day tomorrow, 10am - 1pm in Richmond, CA (Marina Bay neighborhood).

Creating a VISION board for the year (or you life or a particular project) can be such a great way to open your mind to the possibilities in tomorrow, while also helping you stay focused as your year progresses.

I’ll also be giving an intro to Bullet Journaling and talking about why/how I came to use it and how it supports me in staying organized, clear headed and CREATIVE as I fulfill my many roles - mother, partner, birth worker, photographer, IG doula, TA and media muse! Phew.

We have plenty of paper, magazines, scissors etc and some snacks… of course! You bring yourself and your favorite tools! (Bring your notebook too, if you like!)

This is a great time for besties, kiddos, partners (personal and business) to create together too!

There’s so much I want to talk about and yet I am not sure where to begin. You know?

I want to tell you about what we’ve been going through these last few years, and what we’ve been building. I want to share all the things I have planned for this year and how I’d love to connect and create with you. There’s so much! Gah!

For now though, and I would like to invite you to join us as we vision board for this year. It’s a beautiful way to create a visual reminder of whatever you want to keep your eye on. I’ll also be sharing a little bit about my habit and how it helps me not only get through the how and what of my daily life but also get to the why of it. Go to ’s profile for more info and to snag your spot!

What’s your go to method for staying focused on your goals??

When you know, you know, am I right?

Some have been on the entrepreneurial path since birth… I’m one of them! Although I didn’t realize it at first. I’ve worked in all kinds of jobs from teaching swimming to event planning...

I’ve been working for myself for over a decade now! I am so grateful for all the amazing people I have met and connected with in that time. Ayyeee.

I knew, without question, that I had to pursue this whole-heartedly when I was expecting my first-born. I wanted my time to be my own and what an adventure it has been!

When did you know you were on the right path?

Postpartum visits are divine. There is so much support needed in those first few days, weeks and months after transition.

So much adjustment for everyone. And your people will always show up, in some way or another. If you have a loved one going through this, don’t discount any way that you can show up for them.

And be specific in your offer of support - I have a couple hours free tomorrrow, have any errands I can run for you? Could I bring some groceries and hold the baby for an hour? Can I drop off your fave chai and pastry on Thurs morning?

The most frequent needs I hear about are meals (come through food delivery as well as home cooked goodness) and time - to rest, for self-care, to take care of other siblings or connect with loved ones. So, ask what they need and give as freely as your capacity allows.

If you are in need, I encourage you to ask for help. There is no shame in it and folks often want to but aren’t sure where to start.

What helps you when you’re adjusting to a new normal?

I never tire of learning new things. Can’t wait to learn more about gardening and about macrame. It’s kinda funny to me that I am so contradictory. I am a nomad and a homebody. I want to see and try everything and also stay home in jammies.

This is one of my teachers. Their name is Bahari. I birthed them. I appreciate and am so grateful for the lessons they offer not only in being present and grounded, living in this moment... but also in holding boundaries and living fearlessly. They remind me every day that my feelings are my own, and only I am responsible for them.

They model how to be expressive and honest about their own feelings while also not taking on anyone else’s. I deeply appreciate this because this was not something I saw modeled as a child and I have spent countless years trying to learn, but seeing it done so effortlessly, so lovingly and so plainly has been a true gift.

I continue to practice, and when I forget, I am grateful to have someone in my life, patiently reminding me.

What about you? What are learning/practicing right now? What teacher or lesson would you like to acknowledge?

Sometimes I am frightened
but I am ready to learn
the power of love.

Breathe

Hello?
Is it me you’re looking for?
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You’re all I’ve ever wanted
And my arms are open wide

Breathe
Observe
Release
Repeat

👆🏾 me meditating with the radio on 😂 Way easier to just observe when they’re playing classic old school love songs. Once the trap or afrobeats come on, then a different, more physical meditation comes out. 💃🏾

When you get to meet your podcast fave and then she becomes your real life fave and then you create magic together but plot twist, she moves to Michigan and then becomes your long distance fave! Naturally!

Everybody, this is Eri aka and if you haven’t already, you need to listen to her podcast stat. It’s one I can listen to over and over and glean new insights every time.

Eri is a magical being full of heart and wildness and I adore her. Creating branding portraits with her has been a highlight and I am sad she’s moved far away but mad excited to visit her in Detroit. Hey, Eri? I’m coming to visit you!!

The new site just launched! Please share with your networks, especially if you’re in or connected to anyone in Michigan! Eri offers birth support and specializes in birth support for survivors of trauma. I heart her. Look her up.

Y’all. After you listen to the podcast, come tell me which is your fave episode! And go check out Eri’s page and show her some love. ♥️
