Most people don’t look “bad” in portraits; they just don’t know what to do with their body in the frame.

Here are some of my favorite photos I've shot illustrating some tips for you.

These aren’t strict poses to copy, just simple principles you can plug into almost any shoot.

Keep it simple, then adjust from there. Sometimes one will work better than another, or there's overlap.

Save this for your next shoot, and try one instead of overthinking it.

Ever since I started photography in 2014, I've always taken photos for myself. Occasionally, people would offer to pay me for photographing their family, graduation, engagement, or even wedding, and I'd agree if the price was right and our visions aligned. However, for the most part, my primary motivation for shooting was pursuing my own artistic projects for my personal fulfillment.

Now, almost 12 years later, I have reached a crossroads in my life in which I feel burnt out from the corporate grind, and as a result, I want to pursue a career doing something I actually enjoy. I am still shooting for myself, but now I am also opening myself up to photographing others' meaningful events and moments on a much more regular basis. I have since updated my website to reflect this, including this page highlighting my past client work.
