Me: “Yep, totally. I swam out there with my camera. 😂 I told Koa I’d buy her a tomahawk steak if she smiled pretty, then zoomed in on her eyes. The steak was on the line, so naturally, my 600mm lens understood the assignment better than I did. 📸🥩😂”

Waves of Impact 2022 was the first time I met Lila. That year, no matter what—even with encouraging words from her surf instructor, Ryan—she was not getting on that surfboard. 💙💙💙
