So Many People have asked me if I'm retired. I'm very fortunate to be in a place in my life where I only really need to work when I want to. I have always enjoyed my profession, so I have never felt like I was going to work. For most of my career, I would do 200 plus photoshoots a year; my largest year was over 300. Now I'm down to 40ish, and it's perfect. But I love what I do, and I'm not good at the whole social media thing. To continue working as much as I want, I need to improve. So here is a project I just finished for Smith Volvo, this Hummer will be listed on www.bringatrailer.com

Celebration of life for Greg Barbour.
Greg Barbour passed away in May of 2024. Greg was kinda of a quiet person, he kept to himself mostly in his final years. I met Greg in 1990 when he rented a spare room that Zoli Harway and I had on Del Campo Drive in SLO. He was a Student at Cal Poly getting his mechanical engineering degree. I quickly realized that he was one of the most intelligent people that I have ever met. For his senior project, he made three machines that bent wire for an orthotic finger spring (we called them widgets). Those three machines kept him employed for the next 30 years. When he passed away the company that he sold his springs to came out from Tennessee and bought the machines from his family. Due to some of Greg's personal struggles, at one point he wasn't keeping up with orders and the company had to try to make the widget overseas. They could never get the quality that Greg could produce. They told me in 30 years of Greg producing widgets, they never had one return, that's a 100% success rate, unheard of in today's manufacturing. Greg was Brilliant, funny, and had a big heart. So Julie and I are throwing a celebration of life for Greg in October close to his Birthday. If you would like to attend please message me and I will give you the "when and where" and if you have a story about Greg, please bring that too.

I found some great light last night to photograph a 2005 Jaguar XJ8 L that will soon be on Turo to rent. This would be a great wedding car. The back seat in this thing is HUGE!

Fellow photographers, if you get an invitation from Snapper to photograph for Doordash I encourage you to turn it down. They want you to travel as far as 60 miles away for $50. They do try to get you more than one restaurant a day but I'm telling you it is very hard to make money this way. If US photographers stand united. We all might get them to pay more. I did photography for GrubHub at $200 and they came back and said because most shoots were only taking 20 minutes they lowered the price to $175. So they think I'm only spending time while shooting. Most jobs where one hour of travel, 30 minutes to an hour shoot, and another hour editing and uploading and that was four times what Snapper is willing to pay. So I quit. Please be very careful about what you sign up for. Please share this with a photographer friend.
