Photos from Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park paddle are up on the website! It's not often I add them there but it's a special place that not everyone gets to experience so... up they went for all to see. Paddlers with the group can message me for the special password to download any photos they want at no cost. All I ask is for the watermarks to not be cropped off when posting to social media :D

EDIT: I guess I need to add that this was spurred on by the mistreatment of another photographer. I have not shot a ride in quite some time. One. Because I had to shut down the business license for the moment. Two. I needed to spend time with my family and regroup and focus. My RMs always stood up for me when a poacher tried to be second shooter behind my back. Let me explain poacher.... that’s one with a pro camera who shoots 1500 plus photos of riders on the trail and then either gives images away or charges substantially less. Not someone taking some candids. And not someone taking photos for riders at a ride without an official pro photographer.

I’ll also add that it’s disappointing to learn that I can not let my business evolve without upsetting folks. Tell me one business where prices or business practices don’t evolve as the company grows. If the owner learns how they are underselling themselves and then corrects that how is that wrong?!

Your AERC ride photographers deserve to be paid a fair price!!!!! The other professionals are paid to be at rides. We are NOT paid to be there. Its becoming more frequent that others are taking photos at the rides and killing the Official Photographer’s sales.

I’ve been absent for awhile now.

Anyone wonder why?!!?!

It’s embarrassing at tax time to do your books... year after year suffering a huge loss. We..... in the end.... end up paying for your ride photos. I officially had to close my business because you legally can’t have that many years in a row where you declare a loss.

It’s just sad to watch the slow death of this profession for us all.

How can you help?! Stop insisting to get your photos for a discounted price. They’re already discounted. You just don’t see that. Stop giving your digital format photos to magazines to use. Your rights are personal use only. Not commercial.

PS for those that don’t know.... we aren’t paid for our photos that end up on the cover and/or inside of Endurance News. And we aren’t paid to show up to shoot rides. (Exception is Nationals). We are expected to provide insurance to the land owners and expected to cover all our own expenses.
