It's been a while since I have introduced myself. Hey, I am Amy, and like you, I've been reflecting... maybe a little longer than most people do.
So much has changed in the last few years that I haven't bothered updating the social sphere of my focus and passions. I suppose as long as I keep delivering great photos to my clients, who cares, right?
Well, it has bothered me that I don't have my one main specialty like I used to. I've been a photographer for 20 years, and weddings were #1 for so long. So when my favorite thing became overshadowed by new favorites, it made me sad.
There is this big idea in the pro photographer world that you have to specialize to become successful, but that has not been my experience. I have dabbled in several genres including figure skating and real estate. I enjoy it all. And as some of you know, I found my happiest place in school pictures as the new owner of All-Star Photo. Oh man, those kids are going to give me smile wrinkle lines! Now weddings are back on the books, and I have a steady stream of personal branding and headshot sessions coming to the studio. I need the variety, and I need to be good at everything I do. Can anybody relate?
Producing quality images gives me joy. Being a photographer is awesome!
**But** there is something else going on in the background of my business that I have been quietly preparing for a while. I had to put it on hold when I was offered All-Star Photo, because Lord knows I needed to be laser focused on that for a solid year. Drum roll...
I am now teaching photography!!! YEP, I am pretty excited about it. So many years this has been tucked away in my heart. I want to share all about it, but it's too much for this post.
For now, I have a question for you. Given the choice, would you rather take a course online or attend a workshop in person? Let me know in the comments.
