Emilee Franklin Photography Welcome to my FB Photography page! Welcome to Emilee Franklin Photography. This is my page in which I will share select featured photos, and blog posts.

On my website (www.efranklinphoto.com) you will be able to see and purchase photos from my own personal portfolio. I am currently a freelance artist, available for assignment. I love photography, and expanding my portfolio. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about my site, pricing, or requests. I am currently a teaching assistant for English at United International College in

Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. I graduated from The College of St. Scholastica Spring 2016 with a degree in Marketing. Although my degree is not in Photography, I have centered myself in photography taking classes while in college, as well using my photography skills in many different jobs. I first began my photography journey around the age of eleven picking up a camera while going to shoot the local high school football games with my father, and I haven't stopped since. I have shot for the local newspapers in sports and other local event photography, and have also done some writing for at least the past ten years. The past two years I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with one of the best photographers out there, especially in our area, Alan Johnson. He has been a great mentor for me, and has allowed me to go along to many weddings, as a second shooter. Although my future is unclear at the moment, I would love to include photography in my future career plans. On the site you will find a variety of photographs from my study/work abroad travels, as well as local concerts, people, and others. If you particularly fancy any photographs I also have a full online store with a plethora of options. Don't hesitate in reaching out if you have any questions, or simply want to say hey! I hope you enjoy! Thanks very much,
And have a wonderful day! Emilee Franklin

Good Morning!☀️ The pasque flowers have arrived which means it is the unofficial start of wildflower season, as they are one of the first to appear in the Spring! They are also sometimes called prairie crocus. A fun fact is that this photo was taken at Wind Cave National Park a few weeks ago, and they are South Dakota’s state flower. 🌸 I have seen them a few different places in South and North Dakota this spring. Happy wildflower hunting! 💕

Happy Earth Day!!! 🌎

To celebrate here is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken of an Earthlodge!

The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara people lived in a society which valued conservation. They made their homes from renewable materials (cottonwood, earth, and grasses).

There was no such thing as fast fashion in the villages. They could only make new clothes as fast as they could hunt, skin, tan and sew items.

I celebrated earth day, by going to work and educating others about these traditional and sustainable practices. While I don’t live in an Earthlodge or west traditional clothing, I do practice other ways of helping the earth. One big thing, is I do not purchase many new clothes. I first try to decide if something is absolutely necessary, and if so, try to first thrift it. I also recycle when I can, try to limit water consumption, practice leave no trace, among other things. While it may be almost impossible to live fully sustainable, there are many actions we all can do to help.

How are you celebrating today?

The Aurora at Steamboat Rock State Park- Eastern Washington

This may have been the best showing of Northern Lights I have ever seen. It started out ok. I shot for around an hour, and decided to call it. After I got all of my gear packed up and back in my vehicle, I looked back up one last time, and it appeared that the sky had exploded. The color and movement was unreal. It continued that way for around 30 minutes. The pillars were so high and dancing around. It was a mix of peace and a little nervous energy with the howls of the coyotes, especially when the lights picked up. Anxiously awaiting lady auroras next showing.

Aurora Reflections

While I’ve seen the Aurora a number of times this was the first time I was able to see reflections in the water. It made the night even more magical. This was definitely one of the best shows I’ve ever been blessed to see if not the best. Looking forward to the next time lady Aurora decides to show herself. 💕

Happy National Bison Day! 🦬🦬🦬

It is quite possibly my favorite day of the year celebrating my favorite animal, the Bison!

Dropping some bison facts on ya.

Did you know?

There were once 30-80 million across the US.

Bison turn and face the bad weather/storms so they get through it faster.

Bison babies, also nicknamed cinnamons or red dogs are between 30-70lbs at birth.

Bison will typically forage or eat 9-11 hrs a day!

Male bison (bulls) can weigh up to 2,000 lbs and stand 6ft tall, while females can weigh up to 1,200 and reach 4-5 feet tall.

Bison can run up to 35 mph and jump 6 feet in the air.

So the next time you think about getting close to a bison, don’t! It’s bad for wildlife and would be bad for you. It doesn’t take much to google a bad bison encounter. Enjoy bison from a safe distance.

Enjoy this handsome bull from Badlands National Park this summer!

Good Morning! Enjoy these beautiful pasque flowers in the prairie taken this Spring at Theodore Roosevelt National Park!

These beautiful flowers are South Dakota’s state flower and will typically be one of the first flowers to bloom, signaling Spring. Flowers typically bloom from March-May.

These flowers were especially special for me as it ended a 3 year journey of trying to see one. These flowers may have gotten a 45 minute photo shoot.

May your day be as beautiful as these cinnamons at sunset. 💕

It’s officially baby season out west! The best season. A majority of baby bison are born from mid-April to the end of May. I saw these cuties last weekend at Theodore Roosevelt National Park!
