I have a new obsession with this park. I’ve know about it for years and never shoot there. Then last month I decided to try again and now I can’t get enough. I think it’s the field of yellow flowers. When that’s gone I’ll probably move on. 💛

Feeling super inspired to try new things - like shooting in the middle of the day in bright sun, lots of color, with models who are barely cooperative. Also let my husband take some photos!

I love these photos so much. They are exactly how I want to remember my kids. A bit wild and silly and developing that teen angst at age 7.

As always, these are the ones where I felt their faces were hidden enough for social media. My gallery is 100 images with all the faces and details. I’m excited to take my clients out to play like this too with galleries full of joy.

I’m sitting here editing and one of the greatest joys is seeing how parents look at their babies/kids. The joy, adoration, pure love.

Sure, in 20 (or 2) years you’ll miss the baby faces and want to spend hours looking back at them. But your littles are going to want to look back at YOUR face.

This past week I went on a work retreat with . It’s basically a vacation posing as a work expense (“you just write it off”) with lots of gorgeous people in gorgeous settings and a bunch of talented photographers that make you question “am I good enough?” while simultaneously giving you all the confidence boosts that you’ll need to get through the year.

I do a learning retreat every year, building my skills and brining home better ways. But this year I packed with a different motive. I had my nice camera and nice lenses, but I packed my little point and shoot Fuji X100vi and committed to just playing. Sometimes I shot only in black and white. Sometimes I tried for blur. Sometimes I just stood back and watched. I paid attention to shadows and details and people.

In short, I prioritized fun this year and it was exactly what I needed.

If you’re curious there are many others who have waxed poetic about the retreat, but if you know me you know that isn’t my style. Was everything perfect? Yes. Were the instructors the best? Yes. Would I do it again next year? Absolutely.

It’s been a long break. Social media just feels so hard sometimes. Finding the right message, representing my work while also serving my clients the way they deserve…

I’m finding my way back to posting - probably infrequently still - and I’m so excited about upcoming sessions and all the inspiration I’ve been gathering behind the scenes.

Every time a client comes back, I hear the soundclip “She likes me, she really really likes me!” on repeat in my head.

We did heirloom photos for this cutie in the Spring and I was so excited to see everyone again this Fall. This also marks my first Fall gallery completed and sent ✔️

Planning a few heirloom photos sessions in my Atlanta studio and can’t wait to see these outfits on the chunky little toddlers.

I especially love when we can schedule the heirloom session around a first or second birthday, just makes the photos that much more magical!
