“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking!”
Miranda Priestly – The Devil Wears Prada
After watching every episode of Project Runway Jr. I decided to take a sewing class.
Here are the early results of my E Pluribus Unum Collection.
The E Pluribus Unum Collection:
In 1782 “E Pluribus Unum” (Latin for "Out of many, one") was adopted by an Act of Congress as the motto for the Seal of the United States
The rising influence of Evangelical Christianity and the pressures of the Cold War era in the 1950’s lead Congress to change the motto from “E Pluribus Unum” to “In God We Trust” in 1956.
In our current era of intolerance when a conservative, religiously ideological government is actively working to overturn laws ensuring equality for LGBTQ people, the E Pluribus Unum Collection celebrates the original intent of our nation’s founding; “Out of many, one” -- E Pluribus Unum.
Each garment celebrates the beauty and strength of human diversity by mixing two or more patterns with the inside neck seam finished in twill reading “E Pluribus Unum”.
