Choosing a photographer who understands- and obsesses over- light means 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.⁣

It can soften a portrait, bring warmth to skin, create depth, and turn an ordinary moment into something that feels almost cinematic.⁣
⁣
But good lighting isn’t simply about finding the brightest spot.⁣
⁣
It’s about knowing where to place you, how to work with the direction of the light, and when to let the shadows become part of the story.⁣
⁣
This is one of the things you don’t necessarily have to think about when you’re in front of my camera.⁣
⁣
You get to focus on the people you love.⁣

I’m starting to piece together my fall calendar, and I’m already getting excited 🍂⁣

I’m hoping to see some familiar faces this year and meet some new families, too. There’s just something about fall in Colorado that makes family photography feel extra special. The changing leaves, golden light, cooler evenings, and all those beautiful little pockets around Denver, the foothills, and even Rocky Mountain National Park.⁣

Because someday, those ordinary things will be the things you 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 you could remember.⁣

Why yes, I did cry making this.

Because what do you mean I get to raise three phenomenal little women? That I get to be inspired by my own daughters?

As they start a new school year, I cannot help but sit back on reflect on who they are, how far they’ve come, how incredibly proud of them I am, and be in awe of these girls.

I dream of light like this- warm, gooey, neatly filtered through the old oak trees, glowing like the sweetest fire around them, giving the session such a richness and emphasizing the beauty and love of this family.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆.⁣

It’s waiting.⁣
⁣
Waiting until the house is cleaner.⁣
Waiting until everyone loses weight.⁣
Waiting until work slows down.⁣
Waiting until the toddler is “easier.”⁣
⁣
The funny thing is… every family I photograph says afterward,⁣
“I’m so glad we didn’t wait.”⁣
⁣
Life doesn’t pause long enough to become picture-perfect.⁣
It just keeps becoming more worth remembering.
