I have just returned from visiting my brother and his wife in Sun Valley, Idaho. Shown here is a photo taken by Ann Taylor, a college classmate from Pomona College. Left to right (back) are Deidra (my niece's partner) and Gundl (my sister-in-law), and my brother John and niece Heather, and me. It was a spectacular visit -- the first in 15 years. I'm thrilled we have reconnected after all of these years!

Today is the Swiss Independence Day. In 1291 Switzerland established independence from its neighbors. Ever since they have celebrated with cheese fondue feasts, fires on the mountain tops, and fireworks. My late wife Christine, who died 6 months ago, loved to celebrate this day. So, in her honor, we invited family to my home in Santa Monica and had a traditional Swiss fondue. The attached photo shows who showed up. We had a wonderful time. The inset photo is of Christine, who was here in spirit.

Thanks to the Washington Post I learned that we were going to have a "supermoon" last night. I took this photo from the landing next to my bedroom last night at 10 PM.
