STORY TIME!
When I was growing up my family lived on a farm about 10 miles outside of town. It would always take 20+ minutes to get to school everyday and if you forgot something you could pretty much forget about running home to get it. BUT one of my favorite things about where we lived is that when you came from town there were two different roads you could take to get home. Sounds a little lame, I know. BUT when we were younger my parents would sometimes “race” home, girls-against-boys, and we would try to see who would win; which route was the fastest.
The highway or the county road.
I'm competitive by nature so I would constantly spur my mom to ‘drive faster’ when we were on the county road so that MAYBE we could beat my dad and brother home…but we never did. HOWEVER, whenever we took the highway we WON and well I may have done some shameless smack talk to my brother when we all got home. Ridiculous I know, but it got me to thinking the other day about business and how we all have the choice to reach our destination through different routes. Not everyone's journey will look the same.
Some will take the highway and others, the county road.
I'm more of a highway girl. Don't get me wrong, I love the scenery that comes with the territory of county roads but 9 times out of 10 I'm taking the toll or expressway because I want to get to where ever I'm going as quickly as possible. You'll also never catch me planning a road trip (unless my dad forces me!).
I think that in business we also have to decide on how we are going to reach our destination. I think most of us would like to grow and scale so that we can take less weddings/work and spend more time enjoying life, amirite or amirite?
I think the past 18 months has left us all feeling ready to move on with our lives. I for one and ready to take the toll way and make up for lost time and I want to help you do the same!
