One thing I always tell families before a session…

Don’t put pressure on your kids to “be perfect.” 🤍

The best photos usually happen in the in between moments like, the cuddles, the running around, the laughing, the little personalities coming out naturally.

If you want your session to feel calm and fun instead of stressful, here’s what helps most from my own experience and from years of photographing families.

• Don’t over-talk the photoshoot all day
• Let the kids nap/eat beforehand if possible
• Bring snacks + give yourselves extra time getting there
• Most importantly… come ready to just be together

Kids feed off energy! Remember this! lol

If parents are relaxed, playful, and not worried about every little thing, the whole session feels lighter and that always shows in the photos.

Your family doesn’t need to look “perfect” to deserve beautiful memories documented exactly as this season feels.

You’ll spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than almost anyone else. Honestly.

So yes, loving their work matters.
But please remember that, feeling comfortable with them? That matters just as much. Do not discredit that.

Because when you feel at ease I promise you are more present, your photos feel natural and your entire experience changes.

Your photographer isn’t just documenting your day, they’re part of it.

Choose someone you trust, not just someone you think is good enough you want them the perfect fit!!

One of the fastest ways engagement photos start feeling awkward?

Choosing outfits based on trends instead of choosing outfits that actually feel like you.

Couples whose photos feel the most effortless usually wear pieces they’re comfortable moving, laughing, walking, and being themselves in. Even for me when I’m in front of the camera this makes a huge difference!

things I always recommend:

neutrals + earthy tones photograph beautifully

avoid loud logos or neon colors

textures + movement add depth in photos

coordinate instead of perfectly matching

& dress elevated, but still like yourselves. I always say like you’re going on a date night 💅

Your engagement session should feel like an experience together not like playing dress up for Pinterest lol

The more comfortable you feel, the more natural and emotional your photos become.
