Sarah Mismash Photography Utah County Engagement and Wedding Photographer! Healthy relationships, joyful marriages, and happy endings are the whole reason I do this

I've found that it is so important to get to know your wedding photographer a bit before you hire them — you're planning on spending most of your wedding day with them, after all! So, a little about me:

I'm a breakfast food enthusiast with a soft spot for whipped cream, a retired military kid with no true hometown, and a big believer in intentionally romanticizing life.

-My favorite wedding mov

ies are Palm Springs and Brooklyn 99. (Yes, they both have Andy Samberg as the male lead. And YES they both count!)
-I haven't worn makeup since my junior year of high school, including proms and my wedding day (no regrets either! I wrote a blog post about why here)
-I don't do scary movies. (My list of things that are Too Scary includes, but is not limited to: Coraline, A Muppet's Christmas Carol, and anything that my husband claims is "just a thriller.")

In my experience, the best wedding days are the ones that include uninterrupted time together – whether that means going to breakfast together in your pajamas, jumping in the lake with your wedding party before getting ready, or staying out on the dance floor with everyone all night, wedding celebrations are days that should create core memories.

These Washington coast engagement photos immediately made it into my top engagement sessions this year — and my top engagement photo locations in Washington State! (And it’s only March lol.)

The Washington coast has always had a special place in my heart, but what I loved most was that this was a spot that genuinely meant something to these guys. Naomi and Torii chose a beach that they love to surf at together! It was so cool getting to photograph them genuinely in their element out on the coast.

They actually almost didn’t even do it — the timing was tight with save the dates, so they almost just went with photos they already had together. But they reached out to me and I was able to do an expedited turnaround time for them. And now they’ll have these incredible photos at their favorite spot, from when they were young and in love and newly engaged and they’ll literally have them the rest of their lives. Their kids will see those photos instead of just iPhone selfies.

We had so much fun on the beach. Found a sand dollar! Ran around in the waves. Even got a photo with a seagull! Their session coincided with some last minute clamming dates so there were hundreds of people clamming just to the left of us. But towards Westport was perfect and empty and we had tons of space for some blue hour magic.

So so grateful for the couples I’ve been blessed with and the trust they put in me to make sessions like this happen!

One thing I wish I hadn’t skipped at my own wedding: speeches. At the time (as a naturally introverted 20 year old bride who had hated being the center of attention and had never been to a wedding as an adult) I didn’t super understand the point. They seemed like a major source of stress and pressure and I just did not even consider the idea of making time for them.

5 years of wedding photography later, I have a completely different perspective. Speeches are an opportunity to let your closest friends and family celebrate you and accept the changes being made to your relationship. They are an expression of love. They are funny. They are moving. They are so so special.

I hope you’ll make time :)

Love, Sarah

In a world where AI and algorithms and ads make social media feel pretty fake and formulaic at times, I’m having the hardest time deciding if I should lean in or out.

Part of wonders if maybe it wouldn’t feel like this so much if I stopped worrying about content and started focusing on saying things that matter here

So here’s me doing that, with a nice photo for the profile grid too.

Love, Sarah

In awe of how minor shifts in the angle of light can change a location. All four of these photos were taken within an hour of each other, and within a few minutes of walking from each other. But as you scroll through them, you can see the shift from pre-dawn blues to the pinks and gold of the initial sunrise, and then the way it softened to golden and green and misty as the sunlight settled for the morning.

Such a beautiful engagement session in North Bend and such a great start to the wedding season! Ready for an early spring in Seattle.
