This was the first time I spent my birthday, traveling outside of the U.S.. We spent the day in Marrakech doing a little bit of shopping then had a special dinner in the Agafay Desert in the evening.

Safi is known as one of the Moroccan capitals of ceramics and pottery. A beautiful port city on the Atlantic coast, often overlooked by travelers, Safi boasts a charming old medina and ruined 16th century Portuguese fortress on the waterfront. It is also the main fishing port for Morocco's sardine industry. Visitors can tour the hillside pottery workshops and enter the fishing port (no cameras allowed at the port).
