Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting so many milestones for this little boy and his family. Seeing him back in the studio for his five year milestone portraits was a beautiful reminder of just how quickly it all goes by. It has been such an honor and joy watching him grow and change over the years. He arrived at the studio full of confidence, smiles, and some impressive dance moves! I loved how his personality shined!

One of the perks of being a photographer’s child is that you get all the birthday portrait sessions you could ever want. This year, my daughter chose Ghost Spider as her theme. For her portraits, we kept things simple and sweet with just her outfit, cake, and a giant number 4 — which also happened to double as the piñata at her birthday party — as the decor.

One of my favorite things about milestone sessions is that babies are beginning to show us exactly who they are. I love hearing their sweet giggles, or watching their faces break out into a huge smiles.

When incorporating color into newborn portraits, I avoid anything overly bright or distracting. Instead I lean towards dusty blues, muted sage greens, soft blush pinks, and warm taupes and creams, all of which photograph beautifully in my light and airy Saratoga Springs studio. These tones add the pop of color families want while still remaining timeless. The classic, monochromatic approach also creates a calm, cohesive look throughout the gallery.

It feels like just yesterday we were in the studio celebrating this sweet couple as they prepared to welcome their first son. Getting to welcome them back to my Saratoga Springs studio again, this time with their little boy eager to jump into his new role as big brother, was extra special. One of my greatest joys as a photographer is watching families grow. I absolutely love photographing maternity sessions, but ones with toddlers are extra special.

Over the years, I’ve built a large studio collection of newborn wraps, knit layers, and headbands in a wide variety of color palettes to fit most styling needs.

Families love to browse our studio’s wall of wraps and styling pieces. Although many families trust me to choose which colors, layers, and textures will go together best. They simply tell me a color palette that they love or colors they’ve used in the nursery, and we go from there! I thoughtfully layer textures, fabrics, and accessories together from an artistic perspective to create a look that feels cohesive and timeless.
