First off, Happy Easter Everyone!!! 🐣🐇🪺🌅
My wish for you is that you’re able to make the most of today, no matter how you celebrate! Make sure to take the time to reflect, reprise, repose, and relax.
We all know that spring is about rebirth. Every thing is in bloom & beautiful; in return, we start to feel more inspired. I didn’t really mention it, but I had a kinda cruddy birthday this year… the week before this show. I decided I wanted to use this concert as an excuse to have a little, personal, belated birthday party for myself. So, when I say that ST. PUNKTRICK’S DAY was one of THE BEST NIGHTS OF MY LIFE, I’m not exaggerating. I got to spend time with my unofficial extended family Red Claw Promotions 🦀 & some of the most talented bands in the local area. This is my happy place! What more could a girl ask for?! 🥹🎂

Isabella and I actually go wayyyy back. IDK if they remember me, but I used to be that awkward little teenager at their shows sitting in the back with her parents who wouldn’t let her go ANYWHERE NEAR THAT MOSH PIT!! Well guess what MOM?!?! It’s not a phase, I’m still EMO AF, and I get to MOSH as much as I please now! 😛 I can’t help it when I hear their early 2000’s skate screamo sounds, I just lose control. Zach & C**ton’s guitars complement each other perfectly. 👌🏻 The duo sliced my heart, with a fresh razor blade’s precision, into ribbons that I then danced about with. C**t’s bass is anything BUT background noise! He rips it like a band aid… in a loving way. Alex is the true glue of the group though because his rhythm gives me the heart-beat I need to get back on my feet again & again. Tim’s vocals are the cherry on top & will always be a favorite ear worm of mine. His lyrics heal my emotional soul. ❤️‍🩹
So yeah, if you catch me fangirling a little too hard at their shows, I’m SORRY NOT SORRY!!! Getting the opportunity to capture photos for the band that was my first ever live concert & relive my emo kid days will never get old to me. You guys have inspired me for a long time. The way I am SPEECHLESS after your set says everything. All I could mutter this time was “You guys rocked!” And that said it all. Thank you for rocking 🤘🏻🖤

You look like you could use some good old fashioned PUNK ROCK to kick off your weekend in the right way. Well, there’s no need to fret my friend, because I’ve got you covered with a BELATED, but still very badass ST. PUNKTRICK’S DAY CONCERT REVIEWWWW!!! This rowdy celebration was hosted by none other than the best of the best Red Claw Promotions 🦀⚡️ The people who really know how to throw a party!!

By the time PFR hit the stage, the whole joint was feeling lucky… and maybe even a little bit slainte silly. 🍻🤪🍀 These dudes never fail to throw it down. Their Rancid rhythms always get me wanting to act the fool; jumping, moshing, & yelling so loud that spit flies & no one bats an eye. My brother, the toughest critic I know, couldn’t quite put a finger on his opinion of these punkrockers. He kept saying, AND I QUOTE, “I just don’t know about that third band… there’s something… off about them.” I said (in the best oldest sister advice giving voice) “Look here Sammy, the thing about punk rock is that you don’t gotta know what the f**k they’re even saying. I honestly have no idea what the hell the singer is saying, but GODDAMMIT I know it’s something PUNK AS F**K and imma say HELL YEAH to that every damn time. That’s just good ole punk rock for ya, Bub.” He nodded his head in agreement. So I guess you can say that got his seal of approval… I think. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 Like I said, I was feeling a bit silly at this point, so when PFR pulled out all the stops by playing one of my FAVORITE OP IVY SONGS and even busted out the tenor sax for some ska-filled-fun; I COULD NOT HELP MYSELF, I absolutely HAD TO pick it the hell up & skank my heart out!! I might’ve been the only one tearing it up in the pit with all eyes watching, but I DID NOT CAREEEE! So here’s my advice to you all: be authentically you, don’t give a single F**K how anyone perceives you, then take that energy & GO HARD OR GO HOMEEEE!!!
And that, MY FRIENDS, is what the Red Claw Crew is all about. So come check it out some time!!! 😉💃🏻🕺

I AM SOOO LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!!!! 🍀 🍀🍀🍀
Do you want to know why I can say that confidently with my full chest?
Because I’m from the small town area called Cape Girardeau; a hidden gem fully in bloom with amazing original artists & promoters & venues who CARE ABOUT THE LOCAL MUSIC COMMUNITY LIKE IT IS FAMILY. Red Claw Promotions in my opinion, is THE BEST BY FAR at giving smaller bands a BIG VOICE!! That’s why going to their concerts will ALWAYS be my favorite pastime; it truly feels like my home away from home & there is no better way to discover new up and coming bands! 🦀🫶🏻

ANOTHER REASON WHY I’M SO LUCKYYY,
I was blessed with the opportunity to experience not only one, but TWO‼️new to me groups at the coolest party downtown, St. Punktrick’s Day!! 🍻🤘🏻🤪
The Stars Go Out were definitely a pleasant surprise for me! Even my little brother who is a TOUGH CRITIC could not stop gabbing about how y’all were his favorite band of the night. Maybe I’m a little biased because they MIGHT’VE tried to bribe me with celebratory after-set shots (so tempting!) to sweet talk about them online & edit them to look good. Nah, just kidding LOL …or am I? 🧐😂 Seriously though, this punk rock quartet from St. Louis WOWED me with their ELECTRIC GREEN ENERGY!!! 😍💚⚡️ Y’all really gave it your all & left it on the stage for us to soak it in. That’s the kind of ACTION us concert photographers LOVE to capture! When the front man & lead guitarist both have that outlaw cowboy shoot-out type of power stance, you know it’s going to be a ripper. Plus their drummer who is a TOTAL BATTERY RAM, powering the 4 of them through every song.🔋😤 The REAL STAR of the show for me though was their BASS SLAYER LADYYY 💅🏻✨ who’s pretty painted claws send magical melodic vibrations to my eardrums. Together, these punk rockers have the power to push people out of their comfort zones!! It just goes to show that getting out there & being your authentic self is the most fun you will ever have. Life is too short; so LET’S MOSH IT OUT!!! 💃🏻🕺🏻

I don’t know about y’all, but I am STILL FEELING all the lucky vibes from St. Paddy’s Day!!! 🧲🍀🌈🎱💫
It does help that I got to celebrate the slàinte way twice this year thanks to my Red Claw Promotions family for hosting the best party in downtown Cape Girardeau over the festive weekend!! 🦀

Negative Whiplash were the perfect openers for the evening; they REELED me in immediately! I was standing to the side contemplating how to make my first ninja photo strike, when my photography friend Brannon patted me on the shoulder saying “Don’t be shy.” As soon as I laughed it off, I said “SCREW IT!” in my head & jumped in front to get my shot. I think that part is important to mention because that little friendly push really set the tone for the whole night for me. By being myself & having fun with it, I can see that same energy reflected in the bands through my photos.
The NW guys might be young, but they CERTAINLY aren’t naive!! They SHAM-ROCKED that stage with pure Billy Joe Armstrong energy. I get why they’re named Negative Whiplash because after you listen to their set it will feel like you just went for a rough 4-wheeler ride where you screamed “ROADS? WHERE WE’RE GOING, WE DON’T NEED ROADS!” before completely sending it, doing a fishtail & catching some air on the way outta dodge. Okay, maybe that was a bit too far fetched of a comparison, but if you’ve seen them live, you’ll 100% agree! Their songs range from teenage angsty anthems to tender emo heartbreak healers. Make sure to give their new single “can’t have you” a listen! Trust me, you’ll get hooked too. I can’t wait to see & hear more from y’all, keep up the amazing work!! I absolutely loved their energy. There’s just nothing like small local concerts; I truly feel that this is where talent lies in the world. That’s why I do what I can to support & give back to my music scene. I’ve said it a million times & I’ll say it a million more… COME OUT TO A RED CLAW SHOWWWW!!! You won’t regret it. YA NEVER KNOW, you might discover a new favorite band that no one has ever heard of before or you might even… HAVE SOME FUNNN! :)

Y’all I have some important news to report!
I must issue an urgent warning to the general public that the Bad Ghosts are STILL AT LARGE causing a ruckus & getting into mischief all over the St. Louis area!!! Just a week ago I got the call that they were seen lurking around The Conservatory in Alton, IL. So of course I had to bring my camera & do a little ghost hunting for fun. I crossed over the bridge into Bad Ghost territory and was immediately possessed by this town’s charm, this hidden gem of a venue… and we all know I’ve been haunted by this band’s ghastly gnarly tunes for quite some time now. 👻

The Ghostys definitely ROCKED THE HOUSE this night. The vibes were HIGH. The atmosphere was IMMACULATE; a totally laid back, cozy, Hard Rock Cafe type of hang out. Yes, the show was amazing, but I gotta say my favorite part was actually just chillin’ with these southern Illinois villains before they took over the stage. It felt like we were all having a huddle in Eric Forman’s basement together! 😂 I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend a Saturday night. Don’t get it twisted though, once the purple haze started to fill the room and our favorite specters appeared upon their podium, the whole place became ENTRANCED by their punk rockabilly sounds!! There’s just nothing better than listening to their dual-ing (yes, DUAL, not dueling.) guitars. It’s truly mesmerizing to watch these guys do their thing!! I always end up getting captivated by their energy & asking myself “HOW DO THEY DO THAT?!” 🤯 To my surprise, the Ghostys even treated our ears to a new song they’ve been “Working Out!” They said that it isn’t finished & admitted they haven’t played it correctly ONCE, but honestly guys, you rocked it… actually, I say you RIPPED IT!!! Such a great show, such a great night, such great people to really rock it out with. It’s ALWAYS a good time with the Bad Ghosts! Thank you IMMENSELY for inviting me to capture these moments for you guys.🤘🏻👻💜
Seriously y’all, you gotta see them live. You 100% will not see a better concert than these smaller local events and I SWEAR BY THAT STATEMENT!!!

Can we PLEASE talk about how last Friday, the 13th, ACTUALLY turned out to be a pretty alright day???
I would even go as far to say that this notoriously UNLUCKY DAY ended up reminding me how prosperous life really can be! It’s hard not to feel lucky to be alive when you’re at an underground metal show; it’s a place unlike any other where you’re surrounded by people who are all a little rough around the edges, but we all have each others’ backs. Everyone understands your silent struggles even with just a look. They don’t judge here. We all just want to feel the music and feel better… together. ❤️‍🩹 I swear; I need to attend a doom metal show AT LEAST once a month for my mental health needs. That’s why small local shows like this are the ones you DON’T WANT TO MISS!!! I love how one of THE BEST VENUES in St. Louis Pop's Nightclub and Concert Venue treats even the smaller concerts with the upmost respect & professionalism as if it were a sold out mainstream show.

It was so AMAZING for me to witness THE BLADIES SPELLBLADE 💖🗡️ take over such a legendary stage. Truly, a night I never want to forget. I am so happy & grateful to say I spent my Valentine’s Day weekend rocking my bloody heart out with my favorite rockstar galentines!! ☺️ These incredibly powerful women never fail to make my day. I love & admire how they use their artistic talents & music platform to amplify the voices of the unheard. Their doom-ful poetic songs somehow always bring peace to my mind. Getting absolutely ENCHANTED & HYPNOTIZED by their mystical moody sounds is definitely one of my favorite pastimes. I seriously can’t get over these girls! For me, it’s not just about the impact that their music holds, it’s how they bring people together outside of our comfort zones, how they shine a light in the darkness that we all feel, and how they FIGHT the injustices of the world HEAD-ON. The sheer FIERCE GIRL POWER that these ladies emit is inspiring beyond measure. You simply just HAVE to see them live to understand the feeling. Trust me, you will leave the show as a changed person with a better outlook on life.
Keep fighting the good fight. 🤘🏻💖🗡️

Y’all might’ve already moved on & forgotten about last Friday’s “Road to Point Fest” concert sesh at Pop's Nightclub and Concert Venue, but I’m still reeling from this fever dream of a show!! I had a little hiatus from music photography planned, but when I received a last minute message from The Scatterguns saying they were in need of a photographer for this momentous event, I had to crawl out of my lament & make it happen for them. I *might’ve* came flying in the venue like a bat outta hell 5 mins late into their set, but I honestly feel like that just added to the whole vibe. I was literally RUNNIN’ & GUNNIN’ for these guys!!! And these Cape County outlaws surely DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

Get your pistols, get your knives, and all the ammo you got because when you see The Scatterguns live you’ll want to start a scrappy fight in the parking lot. This quartet of pure thrash, mash, and southern trash definitely brought ALL THEIR FIRE POWER this night. I was extremely surprised by their sheer badassery. Dare I say these gunners gave us more energy than Green Day did at the Super Bowl?! Yeah, they 100% blew em out of the water. (Sorry Billie!) I’m so glad these guys made the trip up north to give these St. Louis yankees a taste of that good ole Southeast sound. I have to admit, it was very nice to get back in touch with my trailer trash roots after being in the city so long. One thing about when the gunners are on stage… anything goes. Watch out if you’re in the front row because you might get a crushed beer can to the dome or a steel toe boot to the nose when their frontman Josh gets in the zone & goes ballistic on ya. There won’t be any time for Fightin’ Words at all because their guitarist Joseph will be givin’ us the Gibson; shredding that thing like a fully automatic machine gun!! Oh, you thought it was all about the guns?? You must be mistaken because their bassist Curt is actually wielding a heavy metal baseball bat that will knock your head clean off with one powerful swing. They also had a secret weapon at the back of the stage… their drummer Cody who was hunkered down throwing absolute grenades of percussion into the airwaves! All I can say is y’all seriously gave us one HELL OF A SHOW! 🔥🔫☠️

When I say that Jan 17th at the new Fubar Saint Louis was an unforgettable night, I’m not exaggerating!! I might be known to add a lil extra *pizazz* to my concert reviews sometimes, but I assure you all, FUBAR Lounge honestly does live up to their LEGENDARY status. I’m so glad that they decided to have a grand re-opening this year so that I could get a taste of the all the epicness I’ve heard about. I love that our outstanding local music scene now has a new safe place to call home. Great area, great parking, great music, and even greater people, that’s all ya really need in life!

When I saw Isabella announce the flyer for this show with a STACKED line up of all my favorite groups I’ve worked with in my hometown, I dropped all my plans & said I’M THERE!!! No doubt about it, I knew this event was going to be a RIPPER and everyone definitely delivered on that. The whole time I was silently whispering to myself “don’t f**k it up.” because I’m unabashedly a huge fan of these guys and I want to do them justice with my work. Especially since they trusted me enough to put me on the guest list! The pressure was on, but the homies in Isabella made my job easy. They showed up Dressed to Kill as always & surely proceeded to TEAR that brand new stage to PIECES!!! Elder emo guys in skinny jeans & vans screaming at you, shredding your face off with their guitars that F**K, and the kind of bass & rhythm that POUNDS INTO YOUR SOUL!!! What more could you ask for to scratch that raging itch? Dare I say that Tim, Alex, and C**t are the Godfathers of pop punk in the Southeast Missouri area?? Yes, I do dare to say that. With the addition of Zach and C**ton though… their group has evolved into 5 MASTERMINDS of the craft. I’m not the only one who will back these statements up! Everyone in the crowd kept shouting out “BEST BAND IN ST. LOUIS!!” So it has to be true. Their energy is unmatchable. They are LEGENDS. After the show they thanked me for coming out & joked that they’re getting old… There’s absolutely nothing better than watching other small town starving artists like yourself completely OWN an iconic stage like this; it’s truly inspiring and will never get old to me. 🖤

I HAVE TOLD YOU that the new Fubar Saint Louis is fire! 🔥 So far, I HAVE SHOWN YOU how every band who played there on Jan 17th GAVE THEIR ALL & left everything on the stage. I don’t know how much further I can drive that home for ya, but I can try. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Since all of these talented groups came to the show bringin’ the heat this night, I had no trouble filling up almost 3 SD cards full of PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF that local bands really are the best!!! These smaller shows are the ones to get out there and see for yourself. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN!! There are LITERALLY ZERO dull moments here. You just gotta see it live to get it, dude.

Unknown and Sailing definitely went into this concert with a few cards up their sleeves… They are the ones who reached out to me to bring my camera. I knew when they messaged me that we were about to get an unforgettable performance. I had to make sure I was LOCKED IN the whole time because I SWEAR I could not even BLINK before another goofy or crazy action was happening right before my eyes!! They always leave a lasting impression that makes you think about how unserious life really is; we should all mess around and enjoy it a little more. Their frontman Austin will crack as many jokes as you’ll let him get away with and he’ll have the whole crowd shakin’ ass to math rock by the end of the set. Remember how I said FUBAR is fire?? Well, I wasn’t kidding man. An amp actually BURST INTO FLAMES because Unknown & Sailing’s new song “Better Now” was just too freaking fire it couldn’t handle the massive load of raging good vibrations coming through the wires. Isaac might look like your every day run-of-the-mill Sherlock Holmes mf, but he really knows how to ROCK that REVEREND. 🎸⚡️ The proof is in the pudding, what else can I say? Kwade’s percussive chaos is so sharp & precise it’ll f**king CUT YOU. And Noah’s bass line will have you movin’ and groovin’ like no one’s watching. Put it all together & you get one HELL OF A SHOW!!!! Never a dull moment around these guys, that’s for sure. Thank you all for investing in my art & trusting me to capture the mems 🫶🏻 I hope we’re all doing a little BETTER NOW after this amazing event!
