September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month. ❤️

For me, awareness is personal. I am a caregiver. I am the sibling of a warrior. And I’ve learned that one of the most meaningful things we can do is listen.

Listen to warriors. Learn their stories. Educate yourself beyond the assumptions and misconceptions surrounding sickle cell disease.

❤️ Learn the facts.
❤️ Challenge the myths.
❤️ Advocate for warriors and their families.
❤️ Stop judging. Start learning.

Awareness should lead to understanding, and understanding should lead to action.

For so much of life, we learn how to be what everyone else needs. We become the dependable one, the strong one, the giver, the problem solver, the person everyone can call.
