Happy Pride Month 🌈

I’ve been photographing LGBTQ+ weddings for a long time now. Long enough that I still remember one of the first same-sex weddings I photographed. At the time, the couple had to travel to South Carolina to be legally married because their marriage wasn’t yet recognized in Georgia.

A lot has changed since then.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and everyday moments for LGBTQ+ couples throughout Savannah and beyond. I’ve watched people build families, communities, and lives together. I’ve celebrated with them in ballrooms, backyards, churches, courthouses, beaches, and city parks.

What has never changed is the responsibility that comes with being invited into those moments.

Photography is about more than making beautiful images. It’s about witnessing. It’s about preserving stories. It’s about creating a record of the people we love and the lives we build together.

I don’t take that responsibility lightly.

To every LGBTQ+ couple who has trusted me to document your love, your family, your wedding day, and your life together: thank you.

Your trust means more than I can adequately put into words, and it has been one of the great privileges of my career to help tell your stories.

Happy Pride Month. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Katie, bride and owner of .co (iykyk), gave her grandmother and sister a tour of the kitchen in the newly purchased property that would soon be both her business home and wedding venue. At the end, she hugged her grandmother—a simple, emotional moment about family, hard work, and sharing a dream with the people who helped make it possible.

After photographing weddings for more than 15 years, I’ve noticed something:

When people talk about a wedding years later, they’re rarely talking about the flowers.

They’re talking about the speech that made them cry.

The dance floor that stayed packed all night.

The cousin they hadn’t seen in a decade.

The hug from a grandparent.

The moment everyone forgot about the timeline and simply enjoyed being together.

That’s not to say details don’t matter. I love beautiful details. But the weddings that stay with me most aren’t necessarily the most elaborate.

They’re the ones where people felt connected.

I wrote a new blog post about what guests actually remember long after a wedding day is over—and what that might mean if you’re planning your own celebration.

I’ve photographed weddings for more than 15 years, and I’ve noticed something.

When people talk about a wedding years later, they’re rarely talking about the flowers.

They’re talking about how they felt.

They remember laughing until they cried during the speeches. They remember dancing with old friends. They remember hugging relatives they hadn’t seen in years. They remember the unexpected moments that couldn’t have been planned.

As photographers and wedding professionals, we spend a lot of time talking about details. And I love a beautiful detail as much as anyone.

But the weddings that stay with me most aren’t necessarily the most elaborate.

They’re the ones where people felt connected.

I wrote a new blog post about what guests actually remember long after a wedding day is over—and what that might mean for couples planning their own celebrations.

There’s something interesting about hotel weddings in Savannah — they can feel grand, but the moments I remember most are usually small.

A hand finding another under the table at dinner. Someone fixing an earring in elevator light. The pause right before walking into a room full of people who love you.

This wedding at Perry Lane held a lot of that.

I wrote more about the space, the atmosphere, and what photographing a wedding there actually feels like from a documentary perspective over on the blog. Not just the venue itself, but the way a place shapes a celebration.

If you’re planning a Savannah wedding and wondering whether a hotel wedding, backyard gathering, or something entirely your own fits best, I hope it’s helpful.

An evening of indulgence, excess, and just the right amount of chaos ✨🥂🕯️

This Marie Antoinette-inspired 30th birthday was overflowing with candlelight, champagne, florals, velvet textures, powdered wigs, and the kind of energy that makes you never want the night to end. Every corner of this celebration felt cinematic — from the elaborate tablescapes to the playful portraits and packed dance floor moments.

Honestly, this is the kind of party photographers dream about documenting. Maximalist, romantic, dramatic, and completely unapologetic in its vision.

The full blog post is live now with so many more details and moments from the night. You can find it in my highlights or through the link in bio. ✨

A small wedding tip that makes the entire day run better:

Leave space in your timeline.

Not a lot — even 10 or 15 extra minutes in a few places changes everything.

Hair runs late. Family members disappear.Someone needs a minute to breathe.

When the schedule has no buffer, the whole day starts feeling rushed. When it has a little breathing room, everything flows better — including the photos.

It’s one of the simplest planning choices that ends up affecting the entire day.

Reception is over. This is the part your planner can’t control.

Flash in your eyes. Lipstick on the glass. Shirt buttons gone. Someone screaming the words to a 2000s rap song like it’s a religious experience.

This is the part I love to stay for.

Direct flash. Shutter drag. No posing. No slowing it down. Just exactly how it felt — messy, electric, and a little irresponsible.

If you want photos that look like your wedding turned into a 2006 dance party at 1am, I’m your person.

It’s hard to know how to be right now. It’s hard to post about wedding photography when horrible things are happening all around us. But ultimately love wins and will continue to. Empathy and goodness continue to flow through us and it is at the core of my business practices.
In today’s political climate, empathy and respect are being actively devalued. LGBTQ+ people are being legislated against. Fat bodies are mocked and policed. Our neighbors are being terrorized. The message is clear: some people are expected to stay quiet, smaller, or grateful for scraps.

I reject that.

Empathy and respect are not neutral positions—but they are non-negotiable ones for me. They guide how I photograph weddings, how I treat people, and whose stories I believe deserve care and dignity.

This work is about honoring real bodies, real identities, chosen families, and love at every stage of life—without apology. 📷 image captured for
