One year together deserved more than just a dinner date. 🤍

These two celebrated their first anniversary with a photo session, and I love that they chose to document this season of their relationship exactly as it is right now.

The little looks, the laughs, the closeness — all the things that can feel ordinary in the moment but become the memories you’re so glad you kept.

Happy one year to these two. ✨

One thing I’m always watching for during a family session?

Mom.

I want the kids being themselves. I want Dad laughing. I want the movement and the chaos and all the little moments that make a family look like *them*.

But I’m also always checking on Mom.

Is the angle flattering?
Is her hair sitting right?
Does she look comfortable?
Can I see her connection with everyone without losing *her* in the photo?

Because so often, Mom is the one taking the pictures.

She’s the one making sure everyone else is documented.

So when she’s finally in front of my camera, I want her to look at the gallery and actually love seeing herself in it too.

One of my favorite things about photography is how many people it introduces me to that I probably never would have crossed paths with otherwise.

This session came from Facebook, which still kind of amazes me sometimes. A friend traveled to Old Orchard Beach to spend time with her friend and her significant other, brought her boyfriend along, and somehow I got invited into a little piece of their time together.

And then there was the white dog with the blue eyes… who completely stole my heart.

I just finished this gallery and these are the kinds of sessions I really love — meeting new people, hearing little pieces of their story, laughing together, and creating something that helps them remember a trip or season of life long after it’s over.

Sometimes people find me for one session while they’re visiting Maine, but I always hope it isn’t the last time our paths cross.

I went to Old Orchard Beach for a friend’s session, and while I was working on this gallery, it hit me…

This is my 4th season doing this for OTHER families. 🥹

Photography isn’t something I randomly picked up one day. I’ve had a camera in my hands since I was a little girl, and since 2020 I’ve been trying to learn everything I possibly can — lighting, posing, editing, working with kids, chasing toddlers, watching the sky, what makes a dogs ears stand up, finding the right angles, and figuring out what makes a photograph actually feel like something.

I started a photography career because I love being able to freeze the moments people don’t realize are going to matter so much later.

The sandy toes. The way your kids look at you. The chaos between the posed pictures. The season your family is in right now before it changes again.

I’m still learning. I’m still pushing myself. And every gallery I finish reminds me how grateful I am that families trust me with their memories.

It's all in the details

I finally bit the bullet and replaced my Tamron 100mm macro lens for my Nikon for a Sony G 90mm Macro and boy can I tell the difference 😍

I love this pose so much. The tiny hands under the cheeks, those little toes peeking out, and that sweet sleepy face — it just shows off every tiny detail I never want parents to forget.

I think I’ve been staring at this image for too long. 😂

I photographed this sweet newborn on Sunday, and this is exactly why sneak peeks are sometimes the hardest part for me.

Sometimes I LOVE an image before I go to bed and wake up and question everything. Sometimes I need to post them and walk away, come back with fresh eyes, and let myself really sit with the gallery. When you spend hours looking at the same colors and tiny details, your eyes start playing tricks on you.

But newborn sessions will always have my whole heart. The tiny fingers, sleepy faces, little stretches, and all of those details that change way too quickly.

And with fall right around the corner, I’m looking for expecting moms due this fall and winter. 🍂❄️

This year photography brought me all the way to Colony Beach in Kennebunkport for an extended family session. 🤍

Part of this family traveled all the way from Washington State and another part came from Virginia, meeting here in Maine and making time together something worth documenting.

One of my favorite parts of photographing vacationing families is getting to meet people from all over the country. I genuinely love hearing where you’re from, what brought you to Maine, and a little about your lives outside of the hour we spend together.

Travel has always been a huge passion of mine, so being able to combine travel with photography really does feel like a dream.

And maybe one day a family will say, “Megan, we want you to come to us,” and fly me somewhere new to document their family. ✈️📸 I’m putting that one out into the universe.

For now, I’m finishing up this beautiful Kennebunkport gallery today and sharing five more from their time together at Colony Beach. 🌊

For all those that are always behind the camera, you deserve to be included in your families vacation memories too. It's not always easy to capture everyone together. Let me be the one to document it all! 🤍

Pine Point Beach + young love at its finest. 🤍🌊

Couples sessions don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed. I want you moving, laughing, getting your feet in the water, and just enjoying each other while I capture what happens in between.

These two made that part pretty easy. 😍

There is something so fun about photographing young love—the way they look at each other, the laughing, the little moments that happen without me having to ask for them.

If you’ve been thinking about doing a couples session, consider this your sign. You don’t need an engagement, anniversary, or special occasion to have photos together.

Late summer and September are absolutely beautiful at Pine Point, and I’d love to get a few more couples in front of my camera before beach season is over. ❤️
