My video is from July 21, 2026 and these coyotes look much worse now. Two or possibly three have already passed away out of the group in the last week and all are suffering immensely due to the mange slowly weakening their immune systems. I think the ones that passed away also need to be checked for poison because that would be very rare for three all of a sudden to pass away right now after being in the area for many months. Rodenticides are a main cause of weakening their immune systems and make them more susceptible to mange and not being able to overcome the infestation on their own.

The Last Resort Wildlife Refuge, Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge, and Woodlands Wildlife Refuge are all amazing places that can and will rehab coyotes in this condition. The main issue is the coyotes need to be trapped by animal control or other licensed trappers and brought to those facilities. No need to euthanize them and they have all treated animals, including coyotes, with mange for many years.

To all local animal control agencies and officials, please reach out to the refuges and coordinate how you can help these poor animals. Thank you!

I took this photo back in July and was going to hold off posting until later this year or even 2027 to let the babies leave, but they have already been published on several major news websites the last week alone. There is entire family of at least eight and upwards of ten by one account, and one has already been found deceased a day or two ago. The entire group is suffering horribly from mange and has lost most of their fur. Their habitat is being transformed and construction crews are there daily which seems to have displaced the coyotes and made them more visible to the public. Mange itself is not fatal, but it will eventually make them too weak to hunt and they will succumb to either starvation or their secondary infections. Fish and game said if they trap them, they will have to euthanize them and it is not recommended to throw out medicated bait for the sick individuals. It can be fatal to certain breeds of dogs and other animals that may eat it. Also, dosing is based on the weight of the animal and that is why is it best to let a licensed rehabber handle all of that.

If someone can place a Havahart® trap on their own, PRIVATE property and catch the coyotes, they can then arrange transport to the many wildlife refuges around the state where they can be properly treated. This seems like it may be the ONLY option left and if not, most or all of these will likely be gone by this time next year. Hoping they can be saved by someone who lives locally!
